On today’s episode of Locked on Wild, we play the Blame Game after arguably the worst loss of the season on Sunday to the Dallas Stars. We start with the players, and particularly the top level guys such as Kirill Kaprizov and Matt Boldy who frankly aren’t pulling their weight for what they are being paid. We look at the overall level of disinterest Kaprizov has on a nightly basis and how he seems to take his shots from further and further away from the net as games pile up. We discuss Matt Boldy and his passenger level play. We move to Dean Evason and the lack of holding veteran players accountable for mistakes while not hesitating to make an example out of young players in similar situations. We discuss his rigidity in scheme and structure, and why a team that polices itself doesn’t seem to be getting the job done anymore. We finish with Bill Guerin, and the rush to lock in a group of players based on a season that was clearly an aberration rather than the norm, and why it will limit the ability to get much needed youth into the lineup in meaningful ways.

gm and coach have to be motivators, that isnt happening. BG getting all these old guys who cant skate. I disagree with Alex's take on Foligno. The Wild signed him to be the lead enforcer and he leads the league in hits. It would be nice if he had a few more points, sure, but players like him can take over and change games and playoff series. Thats why the refs targeted him last year against Dallas, the NHL is aware of this. How about $9 million Kaprizov and $7 million Boldy missing the net by 12 feet every shot? I hated the Boldy contract, it was too much. Kaprizov needs to figure it out, he's better than he's been playing.

I know things are bad when I can’t find Zulgad or Declan doing their usual show 🤣. You guys are calling it right. I think Billy Guerin’s gonna have to make some tough decisions. If Kaprisov is hurt or worse ending up like Dumba 😱 then it’s time to come clean in the management. Not all of us fans are so immature we can’t handle the truth. If you made a mistake on the re-signings say so and let’s go young. If we lose we lose but let’s get our young players some experience. These guys here now are so slowwwwww. Guys I’m old enough to have seen this movie before. It’s gonna be awhile before we’re even competitive. I’m disappointed like the rest of you but 23’ is bite the bullet year.

Alex, Kirill isn't playing day to day role even right now! He can't punch through into offense zone without coughing up the puck and last night what the hell was that lazy lob towards Lettieri IN OUR OWN ZONE ON THE POWERPLAY??? Again, is Kaprizov strung out on pain meds? He looks like he is drunk out there at best!

I'm gonna take a page out of Sgt Barnes' book from Platoon – "If the machine breaks down, we break down." From an optimistic perspective, you could say the team has not worked together in cohesion and as a unit from the start this year. Goaltending started good, but defense and special teams have been awful, add a trade and a few key injuries and that just sends negative energy through the group. Hopefully the boys snap out of it soon or there's gotta be changes somewhere. Wasn't Jason King brought in to FIX the special teams!? How's that working out?
