  1. Look Branstrom might be great. He's def a great prospect but he's unproven in the NHL. For such a pivotal leader of the Sens locker room, desired future captain, a top player in the league and our top Points/Goals and Assist leader. I'd of wanted a lot more than a 2020 2nd round, a prospect and then a guy (Lindberg) with 5 seasons in the NHL where he didn't even break 30 points. So we just liquidating assets now Sens?

  2. I agree Ottawa lost considering stone resigned. But a “good” prospect ? Branstrom is the best dman prospect in the world. Better than Hughes and I’m a canucks fan.

  3. I know ottawa fans hate us but this is unfair. If you guys become leafs fans i wont judge

  4. Stone is a solid player.
These 8 year deals have a way of not working out for the team though.

  5. Ottawa owed M.Stone after the horrible season & the Karlsson/Hoffman debacle. Considering cap space & age, Ottawa made a good rental deal as Brannstrom will be awesome. The 8 year extension was out of their hands. What's the difference if it's done now or July 1st? He got placed onto a cup contender in the other conference & more $$$ for the young guns. Ottawa had to protect themselves for next summer's expansion draft as well.

  6. We may look back on this trade thinking differently depending on what Brannstrom turns into.

  7. Lol that contract is atrocious if they wanted to sign him for that AAV I would have just waited out till he became a ufa where he is limited to 7 seasons. He is not worth 9.5M/season (even before you consider the tax breaks which makes this look like it is 11m/year in say Toronto). Lol Stone is not worth what John Tavares is making.

  8. Sounds like Ottawa held out for more, teams backed out and they panicked. When there's a time deadline and teams don't have to deal with you, you may want to take what you can if you've exhausted all offers.

  9. turris, hoffman, karlson, stone, zibanejad, brassard, wideman, dzingel, duchene – these are just some pretty solid players! What kind of rebuild is that if you lost all valuable parts of the team??
