Memories: Parise wins it in OT for the Islanders

On April 11, 1975 JP Parise scored an overtime winning goal in just 11 seconds, at the time the fastest overtime goal in NHL history

  1. Why did #25 follow Vickers to the puck? Looks like Vickers was expecting him to be there for that back pass but the only player there was Drouin. Then Park let Parise get loose.

  2. Nothing beats 1979 game six of the semi finals. Rangers knocked out the nyi at msg and the sight of Potvin sitting in the bench doorway stunned. nyi won the regular season championship and were overwhelmingly picked to go to the finals.but our rag tag ranger group of old farts like Espo and young guys like Murdoch and Don Maloney pulled off a tremendous upset which more than erased the sting of 1975. Would have been a great final with the 3 time champ habs vs. nyi but it wasn’t to be. and I was at game 6. great night.

  3. I was 10 years old and attended my first Islanders game on the last home game of the regular season that year versus the Flyers. Before the game I was taken down by the ice to watch the Islanders warm up. First Bob Nystrom came over to sign autographs then JP. So cool that a week later he would go down and score such a memorable goal in the rich history of the franchise.

  4. I was 12 years old growing up in Chelsea Robert Fulton projects 17th street 9th n10th Ave n all my friends male n female friends of course was Ranger fans except me n Tommy Ryan n Mike Gargiulo we was Islander fans we was so happy we jumped out of our seats in victory on this goal n we will never forget this goal this goal was the start of us getting respect as Islander fans because the Islanders beat the rangers in hockey…

  5. Always fascinated by the legacy of The Ny Islanders, the players who have played for them, the rivalries, the dynasty..out of all the teams from the New York area they’re my favourite!
