Ottawa Senators Hit The Practice Ice In Sweden + Reality vs Expectations Through 13 Games



The Ottawa Senators have arrived in Sweden!

Brandon Piller and Ross Levitan discuss the importance of winning the last game 4-1 against the Calgary Flames to boost morale before the big trip. The Sens have a few Swedes like Erik Brannstrom, Anton Forsberg and Jacob Larsson to be tour guides and hopefully get a boost in front of family and friends. Unfortunately Artem Zub did not practice and is listed as day to day. And the boys had this trip circled before the season even began so we reflect on where the Sens sit at a 6-7 record and bottom of the Atlantic.

    Well, at least there is the positive that the Sens are the 3rd highest in goals scored per game. Meaning if they can improve their goaltending and or defence, to be consistent. Then they should have no issue in getting a good winning streak going.

    In Hammers defence on the goal against, it was a soft slow pass off the draw support (I think it was by Batherson) to him that caused him to be a little hung out on that one!

    For Pillzy: As far as I know, all DEL rinks except for Schwenningen in the Black Forest are still international size.

    But you're right, there is a trend towards changing to the smaller NHL size. Actually my home team (3rd division German hockey) just made the change.

    Isn't that just like Sens podcast to be competing with Columbus!!! Now, luckily Sens have a vacation in the middle of their season, so they can get away from having to compete/play against the tough clubs and play minimally challenged clubs. How come Vegas, Carolina, Colorado, Boston aren't the teams going with Ottawa? Those teams are the ones I'ld like to see play Sens in a series and find out how Sens play. Please explain how Sens podcast can get excited about being in 8th place??? dang close to 16th place?…. maybe we can start talking first round pick selections, because apparently Sens are NOT good enough to make it out of 8th.

    Ok so according to Elite Prospects, here are the first 10 picks, Beaudoin, Brandsegg-Nygard, Catton, Celebrini, Chernyshov, Demidov, Connelly, Dickinson, Eiserman, Emery … to maybe start considering for first round…..

    ** don't forget about team penalties and giveaways * Injuries are copouts, because other teams are going thru the same things. Measure the team against Vegas, not Columbus. Speaking of Debrincat, you did realize Mr Knoblauch is Debrincat's ex-head coach too (Erie)!!!

    in the last 10 games, 46 penalties have been called on Sens but on the other side of the coin, opponents have been called 58 times. 9 power play goals for Sens in 10 games, versus opponents 10 goals, included 1 s/handed empty net.

    Can't say I'm upset about the powerplay. Consistency is huge and they're killing it in that sense. PK and team defense however is disastrous

    I wouldn’t mind taking a look at the Hershey bears coach to be honest. Not sure how he is personality wise but he’s been pretty damn successful it seems.

    Unpopular opinion- this team hasn’t been THAT bad. Lots to work on for sure but I do see them making moves up the standings. They are 6 points out of second in the division with 2 games in hand. Hopefully we see some improved play from stuzle (also unpopular opinion) he’s been productive but makes costly errors at just the worst times
