  1. As someone who hasn’t watched a single Gulls game this season – is Pastujov’s game just not transferring as well from juniors? I know he put up gaudy numbers in the OHL.

  2. It’s a good thing we have so many guys locked in to our forward roster over the 3-5 years because that forward group screams career AHLers. Gaucher gets a pass because he’s still only 19, but still.

Ya, we’re gonna be log jammed on D and barren wasteland on Wing here pretty soon. But it’s going to be fun because we’re gonna be in Cap heaven. I can see us making a big trade for a winger next season with one our blue chip blue liners.

I’ve been watching the games. We have three of the juniors’ defensemen of the year and an infusion of new talented forwards, like Gaucher. So it’s a complete mystery to me how they’re doing so badly. My impressions so far.
    – Zellweger in San Diego barely resembles the Zellweger we saw in the camps and preseason. In Anaheim, we saw sustained, consistent offense from him. In San Diego, there’s only scattered bursts. Defensively, he may be having the most trouble of all the D with breakouts. He seems to be the only D that doesn’t routinely engage in board battles. He just doesn’t staple his checks like everyone else. He seems to be chasing his check from the wrong side too often.
    – Luneau. He’s been solid but a smaller echo of his Anaheim performance. I’m not disappointed with his performance so far, but I was hoping for more.
    – Hinds. I never saw him stand out in Anaheim and that continues in San Diego. I struggle to see the top defensive defenseman of the year, but I’m no scout.
    – Gaucher and the new forwards. Not only is there a lack of consistent success, I just don’t see the flashes of brilliance or grinding effectiveness that we were sold.
The best Gulls have been the veterans – the ones who never had the fanfare of these new kids. Is it the new coaching staff? That would be the simplest explanation. It’s just been a disappointing mystery so far.

At least Perreault is doing somewhat better than the last season: he already has half the goals he had in the entire 22/23

    Tracey though….ugh
