My guess is this will be one of the worst seasons of Ovechkin's career. I don't think he'll catch Gretzky.
Not really coaches fault for Edmonton. Their GM did absolutely nothing this off season to fix their known glaring issue in net and defense especially after it was very very highlighted this past playoffs.
I think Toronto was misusing Holl, straight up. Can Holl defend against the league's best players? Sure. He can, and he has before. But he's not the guy you want doing that on a regular basis. I heard and read so many folks talking about how Holl was "the worst signing" etc. It's only the worst if you're trying to pair him with Seider. Plus, looking at how awesome he and Chiarot were last night, I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of Chiarot and Holl together moving forward.
The Anderson hit WAS garbage (high elbow that targeted the head and the jumping aspect). However i totally disagree with your opinion about the context of the hit. If you're willing to try and score you should be just as aware that you're possibly going to get hit. The NHLPA appealing the suspension displays a poor image with regards to player safety.
Laine is brain dead. How many times has the guy got smoked or injuried. McCabe smoked him in Buffalo. His head is down always

Can't really blame Ovechkin when the capitals are playing the way that they are. That being said, as a caps fan, I have watched every game and we have ZERO bounces go our way, its actually insane how many. The amount of posts we have hit is also crazy. I feel like the capitals are having a mid season blunder at the start of the year, because our play isn't yerrible, we just can't catch a single break. Once it passes, Ovi will start rolling.
Ovi plays the Leafs tomorrow…. He will wake up… The Leafs are great for helping the opponent set milestones and/or break slumps
Justin Holl will come back down to earth and be the ECHL player he was meant to be. A few lucky games does not make an NHL'er. The Wings will want to dump him in Hiawatha Nat'l Forest in the U.P. by February just like we should have dumped him in Algonquin last year
Tbh should’ve given Anderson 20 game suspension. Such a pos play. Shows how little respect I have for him as a flames fan. Sucks he’s our best defenceman but we got to get rid of this by making huge punishments as it’s not a hockey play
Asking about coaches who are "already" in the hot seat? We've already had a coach fired this season, in Columbus.
Andersons hit was dirty and pure frustration, suspension is justified imo. Radko Gudas had a hard hit against Arizona where he got PIM for but it was reversed and this is where I would draw the line.

This season has started off in the worse way. The game on ice sucks, teams can't string wins and players you expect to light the lamp are having slow starts.
Seeing Buffalo and Edmonton suck so bad so early is a thing of beauty.

4 games is too much for that hit with someone who has an irrelevant record. It's not consistent with the past suspension. Players should play buzzer to buzzer. The time of the game should not matter

My prediction: the Flyers will miss the playoffs this year but near end of season they will play spoiler to at least one other team.
There is def concern for that caps, however ovi will be fine. They put him with the best possible linemates on the team. Caps can still turn it around but a lot things need to go right

Odds still great Ovechkin gets the record because of what he did post Covid scoring 50&42 really rounding the top of the mountain. Only needing 73 in three seasons is less than 25 a season so even if he isn’t 100% on a poor team he should get there and even be the first to 900. A slow start, yes. But ovie has scored 2 in 10 many times over his career. Actually in every season just about he has had stretches of 2 in 10 so really bo worries yet. If he has no more than 4-5 after 20 I’m more concerned. Being so early in the season all he needs is a hat trick and a two goal game and he is suddenly on track to 45+.
Ovi doesn’t have anyone good to feed him the puck. That’s why I don’t understand why draisaitl adopted Ovi’s famous side net slap shot
