Offtopic, what would the fan reaction be if we got Patrick Kane

  2. canucklehead200

Sign the everloving F out of P if he’s only looking for “around 12”! That’s gonna be somewhat of a steal in several years

  3. grandlinegooner

Imagine going to Costco for the pre-game hot dog and you see Kessel in line wearing his full gear

  4. kneejerk_nuck

So greedy. How much money does someone need? Take $7 million per year so that we can spend more in free agency.

  5. iburneddinner

I’m really disappointed they’re not actually going for eleventy billion.

  6. NerdPunch

I know he’s not the most popular guy in Van, but I would prefer Patty Kane to Phil Kessel.

If the team could move off of Beauvillier/Garland and replace them with Kane/Kessel for ~$1M it would be a tidy piece of business for Van.

Would also open up the space they need to go after a ~$4M RHD.

I’d love to have Kessel just for the memes. Also give Pettersson however much he wants as long as we get 8 years

  8. What’s the point of getting kessel? Don’t we have enough wingers. I’m not against it, I just don’t get the point.

  9. julesieee

Our memes/60 will skyrocket if we sign the hotdog man.

Kuzmenko and Kessel interacting and talking about food would be hilarious.

  10. bryant-reeves

We gotta figure out Kuzmenko before spending on another forward. Good news is he produces okay even without top opportunity/ system for him

  11. MikaelDerp

What would be the core reason for pursuing Kessel? Leaderships or veteran presence? He’s 36 so I can only imagine it’d be for a Mat Sundin sort of role for a year or two like when he joined the Canucks.

  12. self_direct_person

what does garland make a year? Is it too much I think he is great player.

  13. AAfreakinRON

Doesn’t he float around on forechecks and backchecks? I feel like he wouldn’t be the best bottom 6, I mean wouldn’t the Knights have just re-signed him if he was?

  14. Sad_Establishment875

Anything south of 12.5 if you can get him for term, you should be all over. See if you can move him down to an 11.7 number or thereabouts, but you’ve gotta get term.

The cap has been stagnant and should show a significant increase over the next few years, if you can get him to that number now, it will be equivalent of 9-10 of current cap value in a few years.

  15. kernelcolonel

Throw the bag at Petey. Christ, if we can get him at 8x12m I’ll be ecstatic

  16. WolfOfPort

Offer him 10 and if he wants more that’s just a bad look. Like it shouldn’t always be down to get the most money why not want to play in vancouver and see the Stanley cup chance

  17. That’s a steal for his numbers and also the eye test of him on the ice.

Salary cap is going up and I’d expect anyone of his potentially league leading skill, minus McDavid, are probably going to be going for $14mil+.

$12 mil, obviously a bit lower if we can get it for paying more talent, but if Petey’s holding at 12 for a long term deal is fine with me.

  18. niftynards

Quickly give him that deal. That’s worth it now let alone when the cap goes up. What are you waiting for? Do the thing! Write the papers!

  19. oldman_stu

7-11’s better have their nacho cheese rdy to go. Forget about hotdogs-anyone keeping up with Phil knows he’s a big time cheese fan

  20. Modsrbiased

If Kessel signs I’ll buy a Kessel canucks jersey immediately. He’s an inspiration in many ways and our memes/game will be off the pdo meme charts

  21. waistbandtucker69

I’d give my left nut for a Kessel flying skate jersey

  22. The_Forsaken_Viola

    Give Petey whatever he wants.

    Give Kessel nothing

  23. Semprovictus

if we make the playoffs and don’t fizzle out, give it to him no questions aside from does 8 years sound good?

  24. ToyStrecher

12 is uh fine. But just take 11 and call it a day. Caps not rising THAT fast

  25. Holy fuck I would be so stoked if Phil the Thrill joined the Canucks. All for dumb reasons but man that would be a ride.

  26. If Jim Benning was handling this he’d accidentally sign Kessel to a 12m a year deal

  27. LordGlompus

Have the hockey gods read my mind, I had imagined Phil Kessel on the canucks a few weeks ago after the tocchet interview with Scott Oake

  28. I hope Costco can keep up with the higher hotdog demand.

  29. Spinellii11

Pay the man. But will always despise Benning for bridging Petey when we could have had him for cheaper in his down year.

  30. Looney_forner

    Sign petey.

For kessel? His statline has emptier calories than the hotdogs he eats before every game…

  31. bwoah07_gp2

    >Pettersson camp looking for around $12m/year

    **What?!**

    >and Canucks still interested in Phil Kessel

    **WHAAAAT??!!**

  32. trousersnauser

Mark my words, this guy is not durable enough to be worth $12 million. He’s fun to watch when he’s healthy though.

  33. So if Petey is looking at 12M then it’s pretty much guaranteed they’re going get it done below 12 right? I mean if you always shoot high as a player and management shoots low…?

  34. theboneandonly

Low key don’t want Pettersson to win the Art Ross as it will just be another thing to hang over management’s head during negotiations.
