I don’t exactly think Fowler looks out of place, bad, or like he doesn’t have a role here.
The truth is this team isn’t supposed to be competitive yet, Fowler is a needed veteran presence alongside Gudas, and is by far the longest tenured Duck now, that is valuable with a core this young.
Now, my points aside, that contract is an anchor. Especially as his base salary is $7.5M next year with one more year after that. Not worth the rental this year, or next. Plus he doesn’t exactly have any it-factor a contending team would be after, except being pretty healthy, mobile, and has a shitload of playoff experience, some pretty deep.
