Maybe if Campbell got a start in the playoffs and did as well as he did when he stepped in after Skinner got pulled. We would've been able to offload his contract with someone.
As Rockhound from Armageddon says "Embrace the horror". As Bob Stauffer has referenced the story of the semi pro minor league team The Danbury Trashers many times on his show this franchise hasn't gone total dumpster fire yet šorš¤but that next hiring is crucial imo. šorš¢
The Oilers might be able to trade him but they will have to retain a ton of the contract, I could see Campbell then becoming a decent goal on another team (not all star but capable back up with a good defense in front of him)
If this team wanted to pretend they're serious… fire Holland and cut others out too in management! Then have a press conference to address a new future, apologize to the fans and move on. Cambell isn't helping himself out, I hope he mentally stable

Sometimes the money fuks with your head and they out pressure on you to perform at a higher level when they just need to be themselves.

I'm a Leafs fan. When Campbell wanted a new contract. I said this is his first year as a starter because Murray got injured. Campbell hasn't proved he is capable of being a starter. One good season doesn't make Campbell worthy of a starting goalie contract. Leafs were smart to see it the same way. Holland gave Campbell 6m each year for 5 years with one season under his belt as starter. Holland would look like a Genius if Campbell played well as expected. Their going to have to buy the rest of Campbells contract.
