quick thoughts
1. Clear emphasis this game (and last game to be fair) on higher danger passes and board to board passes in center ice.
2. Yamamoto carries the puck into the zone very well while most others dump immediately. Utilize that
3. Last few games have seen a massive PP mixup with Tolvanen getting pp1 minutes on the right wing and seeming to run it for decent amount of time. Yams in the bumper slot has been really good too
I’m glad to see things changing and Hakstol is adapting. Schultz shootout taker 1 was a surprise, but I am all for experimenting when shit isn’t working
Gru is a fucking HERO I don’t care what anyone else says this win literally made me cry tears of joy. The best kind of win ever for a goalie fan, there is just nothing like watching 8 rounds of shootout with this valiant warrior coming up big again and again and again. Seeing his laser focus on the puck and the mental fortitude, it’s all just incredible to me. And then they all hugged the fuck out of him like he deserves and we can all go to bed happy!!
Also! I need us to keep Kailer Yamamoto forever and ever and ever. Seriously. I fucking love him, I think he’s my favorite of the new guys. I love his energy and my God that fucking shot, the way he just went and made Varlamov look stupid and he made it look so fucking easy. Just glorious. Absolutely glorious
