GAUDREAU & LAINE BENCHED! WHAT’S THE FALLOUT?

Patrik Laine and Johnny Gaudreau were benched during the 3rd period of the Columbus Blue Jackets’ loss to Arizona, and that includes during a 6-on-5 empty net situation. So what’s next for the Jackets? #7eleventhatshockey

  1. What is this boomer waffling on about, neither of these guys chose the money laine took more of a prove it bridge deal and gaudreau declined 10.5 mil from Calgary.

  2. Neither of them left over money. Calgary was willing to pay up, but Gaudreau wanted out of Canada and to play in the east. Winnipeg would have happily paid Laine 8 figures had he been able to sustain his early play, but the situation became bad for him. Whether it was the team's structure, personality clash with certain teammates, or the inability of the team to find him quality linemates, it got to a point where no amount of money would have convinced him to stay, and even if you did overpay him, he'd have continued struggling

  3. I guess it's easier to say that these two players are chasing money than to do some real hockey analysis. This guy is a joke.

  4. Gadreau wasn’t chasing money he could have got paid in Calgary he wanted out of a frozen wasteland

  5. We are in a rebuild here in Columbus. we are introducing all of our young draft picks in. patty and johnny came in at a time where we are not going to win a lot of games. Should not be any panic here for a couple of years.

  6. The Toronto Maple Leaf's gave Fee Fee Tavares a bunch of loot and he certainly has not hold up his end of that bargain.

  7. The main constant here for the losing is the management. They just suck at putting winning teams together, finding #1 centers, and developing top prospects. They favor soft Euros over slot-type players (Voronkov is the lone exception), having a vision for an identity and getting players to match it, and drafting anything other than BPA, third liners, or wild-goose chases. They rely on hope for their main strategy. For an overall grade, I would give Jarmo a C- only because he is able to pull off, or be gifted, random good deals. Is Gaudreau a good deal other than the name, though. Something mental is up with that kid. He looks genuinely depressed. He reminds me of Travis Hafner after he got married or Chris Davis once he started taking meds (ADHD I believe). Stars come to the CBJ to retire early.
