Why THIS play is dominating the NHL

Quinn Hughes and the Vancouver Canucks are off to an excellent start to the season and, in this video, I break down what I think has been one of the reasons for that success. That being Hughes’ chemistry with Filip Hronek and their dynamic ability to create chaos in the defensive structure of opposing teams.

What do you think of this play? How do teams go about stopping it? Hope you enjoyed this slightly more analytical type of video!

  1. There's a lot to unpack there in those 3 mins, but I think you're spot on with this analysis.

  2. The guya on Sirius/xm , I believe, gor ir right. An NBA point guard . Small, fast, and uses the his awareness to feed others and control the ice. The game has been changed by Hughes …

  3. I m surprised how generous the Red Wings were in gifting the Canucks 2 really good defensemen!

  4. Hronek is to Quinn Hughes what Devon Toews is to Cale Makar.

I think those are the 2 best defensive pairs in the league right now.

(Although Hughes and Hronek need to do it a full season before we can give them all the credit.)

  5. Hronek trade was good for Vancouver. He's a good RD in his prime. Yzerman didn't get an unfair return, but it was an odd move given Detroit has added older vets than Hronek and he would be a 2RD on Detroit if he stayed.
