  1. sailing on over to robidas island, enjoy ur stay klingers.

  2. SynthRysing

Hear the island is pretty warm this time of year anyway.

BTW can we stop spending all training camp next year trying to get below the cap by making hypothetical trades until the season starts. All training camp was to trade Jarnkrok or put Timmins on waivers and it all worked out without losing anyone (besides Lafferty but that was more for roster flexibility than not being able to afford).

Too bad for him but I’m glad that’s cleared up. Forward we move

Maple Leafs legend John Klingberg. Never forget.

  6. memosi8743

I just hope that he can fully recover so that he can have good quality of life post-hockey.

Can someone tell me how much cap space this leaves us with?

  8. Barbellion

Can’t hate the man for getting another couple million bucks when he was already done. Hope he can get to a point where his quality of life is good post-hockey.

Robidas island about to get a new guest we can finally move on

So he’s on LTIR, but my question is this: is it robidas island LTIR, wait till playoffs LTIR, or normal LTIR?

Leafs are like the Arizona Coyotes, except they bury their own bad contracts instead of taking them off of others hands

Been watching lots of flames games and big Z would slot in sooooooo nicely.

There is zero chance the Leafs didn’t know about this injury when they signed him. Tre absolutely knew that this was always a potential “out” of this contract when they signed him. It was entirely risk free from the beginning.

Hot take for this sub, especially since it’s full of Dubas cultists, but this was a good signing considering how little time he had to prepare for this free agency by the time he got situated in Toronto. It’s not working out due to the injury, so we just LTIR it and move on. Super easy.

Say what you want but I feel so bad for this guy. Was reeeeally hoping he could have turned it around with us, but hopefully our world class reputation of taking care of players makes life a little better for him moving forward.

Steeves has been great in the AHL for a few seasons, but only has 6 NHL games under his belt (averaging less than 8 minutes a game).

Would be nice to see him get a bit of an extended look, ideally playing more minutes, so we can see what we have in him.

So far two of Tre’s four big signings have proven to be absolute disasters and it’s only November. The other two have been mediocre at best but I’m hoping will get better as the season goes on. What looked like a decent off season is shaping up to be pretty shit.

  17. Reggae4Triceratops

This season has been a rollercoaster already and it’s only November.

  18. togocann49

This is convenient. Not fitting in? Put him on IL. I wouldn’t doubt injury was known at signing, it gives them an out cap-wise.

  19. mcguinness95

Got to feel for Klingberg, never good to see anybody forced into injury enforced absence. All the noise seems to be that this could be career ending.

If so, awful for the man and his huge bag fumble last year. Very badly advised by his agent at the time.

Can we now start actively shopping for the defenseman we actually need as a communal Xmas gift for all of Leafs Nation?!

Dear Santa, could we please get one stay at home, defensive-minded Dman, preferably with a mean streak?

    Xoxo

  21. DeBunker9990

Off to the island of horrible contracts. 2 of the 4 terrible signings from the summer now either hurt or scratched

  22. connorpeacock97

So with klingberg gone and 4 mil off the books… we could technically roll out this exact same time next year with Willy at 10 or so mil

  23. _digital_bath

If given the opportunity, Steeves could be a good, cheap productive player in the bottom six. He is currently third overall in points and tied for second in goals in the AHL.

  24. Rowdy_Roddy96

The island is pretty much an archipelago at this point?

  25. Psychological-Big334

Does that effectively give us 5mil cap space?
