I’ve been trumpeting Quinn Hughes name all over the place, and often resorting to bashing Makar in the process.
Truth is, Makar is a generational talent. Quinn is right there stride-for-stride, but seeing Makar last night made it clear that he’s still one of the most dominant forces in this league and will be for years and years to come.

Hughes has been on another level this year but frankly you have to have the homer glasses on pretty thick to not see that Cale Makar is a generational player. Like there’s nothing wrong with being slightly below a generational player, plenty of teams can win without a generational player and you can have a hall of fame career without being a generational player. Quinn Hughes is the greatest defenseman in franchise history, one of if not the most talented players in this organization’s history period, and so far has been an amazing captain and leader for this team. I don’t know why we as fans especially seem to have such a little brother persecution complex about everything man, just enjoy the fact that we’ve never had a player like Huggy before on this team and the fact that as fans of the game, we are so lucky to see so many amazing young talents play out their careers.

Avs fans get mad when fox is compared to makar as well

This is an Avs fandom problem. I think almost every Canucks fan recognizes Makar’s brilliance. The problem is that Avs fans aren’t hockey fans, they’re Avs fans. The sport is not as important as a win at any cost. American casual sports fans are not well educated on hockey.
Always been this way, we just forget cause we sucked for a long time.

I think most people can accept Makar exists. My problem is that no one wants to accept Hughes does.
And I’d also like it if they’d stop putting asterisks next to every one of Hughes’ accomplishments and tying Makar’s future accomplishments to them. That is my biggest problem, honestly.
You can celebrate Makar’s accomplishments when he earns them. Let’s celebrate Hughes for now.
