I’m okay with this as long as it doesn’t cost anything. I don’t believe any movements would bring enough value to warrant the cost. I think we just take our lumps and prepare for next season by planning movement.

Forward toughness won't fix our weak Defense. We need to dump some of our dead weight forwards who are still worth something ie NUGE (yes i know about the NMC but I'm sure he can be persuaded) and get a top 2 D. Ekholm trade seemed to change our entire season last year. We need a positive spark.

Logical partner for a trade of some sort. Draft picks and young players like Bourgault, Lavoie going the other way to them? But for whom? Seth Jones right shot d-man? Perry is nasty, just one of the many things we need. Have to worry about that cap crap too. Perhaps we retain part of Campbell's salary just to move him. Whatever is going to happen it's clear that Campbell will be a part of it. Paying too much money to someone who isn't going to play for the Oilers again. Feel bad for him. As for defense need to have two guys back at all times. How many times have we seen Nurse, Bouchard, or whoever pinch at the other team's blueline, get caught and a two on one going back our way giving the opponent a great scoring chance many of which they convert? Better slot and front of the net coverage too. Mrazek wouldn't do so well either with those odds stacked against him. Still, I'd take a chance on him. Best goalies around the league, like Saros, untouchable. Why would their teams trade them anyhow? Most everybody still in the playoff hunt. Barry Trotz would need to be smoking some bad shit in order for him to trade Saros. What could we give him in terms of equal value?
People saying “Perry wouldn’t be a long term solution” NO shit! But there needs to be some kind of shake up for them so he would be a good guy to get in the mix to shake things up and hopefully get them to get their heads straight.
Also to add on to my previous comment. Mrazek was also held out of practice today as well so maybe there’s gonna be a Perry/Mrazek bundle for Campbell and a pick(s)?
This is the culmination of years of bad management. Woodcroft firing was a huge mistake. The defense of this team has been terrible for years. It should have been a huge wakeup call when the got swept by the avalanche. Something is very wrong at the core of this franchise.
Hawks fan, if the oilers trade for Mrazek and Perrry or something like that, I assume they’d want a fill in for Taylor Hall and probably something else, I don’t want to trade Mrazek though.
Big Hawks supporter here. How about Perry, Lucas Reichel, and Seth Jones – for – McDavid and next years #1 pick? The Oilers would get a net front presence, an up-and-comer, and an all star D-man. The Hawks would get someone to play with Bedard and a much needed draft pick to help them in the rebuild. Hawks could even throw in Tayler Radych and Mac Entwistle.
