The good news for Leafs fans is that every time Steve thinks they are "bad" they win a bunch of games. Seems like a nice guy, and is clearly a fan, but my god is he a dreadful analyst of the actual game.

17:33 this right there is the Core of all the Leafs problems and it's the Reason why you had to break up them up. How can you win in the NHL if your best (and highest paid) Players have attitude Problems. The Bruins, Golden Knights and Rangers are the only teams that have over 30 Points already and look at their Roster, look at their Star Players. They perform every Game, every Shift and all those 3 Teams have a History of success because of it. The Leaf won't win with this Core and the Fact that they held on to all of them just shows you that their entire organization has a Problem.
The team can't defend and yet a rumour about MsDavid coming to Toronto… we don't want to fix our problems we're just going to try to out score them….
So Marner does what's he's paid for and he's still criticized. No wonder nobody wants to play in Canada

@thatpensfan412 here! First I would like to completely verify Steve when he said the “Penguins aren’t playing good this year”. You are absolutely correct in this statement. However as far as the missed calls at the end of the game. In a league where it seems this happens more often than not to our teams. The irony is not lost on me that kind of thing happened in this game, nor the fact it only happened once 😂. Good luck in the rest of the season !

There are no consequences when the Leafs' star players do not feel like playing a 60 minute game. Nothing, nada. The only players getting benched are the fringe players. I guess getting paid $7-13 million is not enough to give 100% game in, game out. This team will be fighting for a wild card spot, but with so many East teams playing well this season, I have a feeling 82 games is all they will play this season. What then? Bye bye Nylander? Time for another rebuild? If you go through the past LFR's for this current core group, the gist of every LFR season is practically the same. This group will not deliver the Cup!

Another stellar goaltending performance by Joseph ( call me ) WAHHHHLLLLL ruined by sun-par defence 🤣 William ( I Am So Pretty, Pretty Pretty ) Nylander kept off the score sheet again…..another abysmal performance by the dynamic duo of Matthews and Marner 🤣 , another loss to an under .500 team……face it Leaf fans, you had a chance to exact revenge on Kyle Dub-Ass, but failed. Loved when Karlsson scored the third goal, you could see three Leafs turn away from the shot to avoid getting hit 🤣 rather than trying to block it 🤣 Maple Leafs are who they have always been, an average team at the moment. They are basically a .500 team themselves ( 10-9 ). 🤣🤣🤣

Penguins are getting me on Steve Dangle level of madness this year… the potential is still there this year. Leafs were just unlucky to face Sid and Geno after the travesty that happened in the 3rd period in Buffalo the day before.
Both wins in Sweden were against teams that played the day before. They also have only 5 regulation wins….and 6 regulation losses.
The book is out on them…shut down the Matthews line & take your chances with the secondary scoring.
I think I am done with these Leafs. I don't even find them entertaining to watch anymore. Except for maybe Nylander. I actually turned the game off in the middle of the third period. I didn't even care if they came back to win or not. I was just pissed that they put themselves in this situation YET AGAIN!!.
Screw em. Might as well just turn on the game in the last 5 mins and see if they can force it to overtime. Save yourself the frustration of watching the whole game.
I hate bitching about the refs. It's lazy and usually ignorant.
But, these were back-to-back TERRIBLY officiated games.
Nylander getting his stick slashed out of his hands and Tavares getting headlocked and mauled in front of the net by Pettersson.
There was also a blatant trip near the dot, too.

Sounds like Marner is a great regular season performer, no doubt and he gets his points in the playoffs but he is still lacking the killer instinct required, the all out sacrifice that is needed to get over the cliff and win when it counts. Matthews, Tavares are similar, yes, they work hard but they lack the fire. That's 3 out of our core 4 who have consistently underachieved throughout this run. But, in the end, with everything I have said, it's still the overall defensive play of the team that relegates them to a second tier and not a first tier team in the league. Look at all the contenders for the cup and you will have one or even 2 Norris trophy candidates. Our best dman is a 2nd line or 3rd line dman on any of these teams. Treliving better start tweaking.
The Leafs paid Matthews, Marner and Tavares as if they won 2 cups in Toronto… Remember when Chicago gave contracts to Toews and Kane for actually wining 2 cups in Chicago? How many Playoff series did they win after that? This explains the Leafs. The Leafs can't afford to put the kind of team together to even win 2 playoffs rounds (and I'm not even talking about the same season – no, overall all). The least those overpaid premadonnas can do is put an decent effort against the bottom teams in the league.
Marner AND Matthews need to go. I've never liked Marner – I saw this in him 4 seasons ago. Yeah, he gets his points, but THIS is the real Mitch Marner – hate to break it you ya Leafs fans. I just wish that the Leafs so-called stars had as much enthusiasm playing the game as they do driving to the bank.
They need a new voice, they tuned keefe out. Make a change behind the bench, that’s the first fix needed
