Fresh off a Stanley Cup finals appearance with the Lightning, nick Paul just inked a 7 year extension with Tampa Bay Lightning. Having been the final asset from the Jason Spezza trade with Ottawa years ago, Paul finally cracked the Sens line up in the 2019-20 season, earning a full spot with the club.
Paul was a clutch goal scorer, but was known more for his solid defensive shutdown game, which will be very difficult to replace. Paul was traded to the Lightning at the trade deadline and finished the season with 16 goals and 39 points in 80 games split between Ottawa an Florida. He came in to his own for the 2022 Stanley cup playoffs, scoring both key goals against Toronto in game 7, and many other momentum shifting goals. He finished the playoffs with 5 goals, 9 points in 23 games.
Best of luck to Nick Paul!
