[Jordan Schmaltz on X] Kane is signing with Detroit pending a last minute change of heart.

#Swishs’ phone is buzzing late night in the desert …pending a last minute change of heart. It is believed Patrick Kane will sign with the @DetroitRedWings within the next 3-7 business days. Term is still being hashed out. 1 or 2 years makes most sense

I thought he was going to pick the Panthers, for sure. The hockey gods are smiling on us.

No idea who JSwish_24 is but I’d trust him with my life. I’m so down for the kane experiment

I’ll be waiting to give any reaction. If anything he’s worth the experience. He’s a playoff vet. Has a little over 140 playoff games and he’s positive. He was a great player but he’s coming off hip his surgery. I think personally he’ll add more to the team than just scoring potential. We’ll have to see if this is the case. *forgot to add hip

3-7 days? Illitch wouldn’t pay for overnight shipping and went with the slow but free option

Holland is texting Stevie and be like “Give him 6×6, you don’t even have to give up ASP or Edvinsson! You saw him in 2013!”

Don’t mind me… just casually staying up watching Debrincat-Kane highlights all night long

I hope we don’t sign Kane. Major hip resurfacing surgery and we don’t know how much that will impact his ability to perform. That surgery has been career ending for other hockey players. He’s too old and takes a roster spot that we need for prospects. We already have our share of dubious signings (Copp, Chariot, Holl). We really don’t know what we’d be getting with him other than he’s not likely to be responsible on the defensive side of the puck and we can ill afford that. If we do sign him, it should be the league minimum for one year. Even at that, no thanks.
