  1. I seriously thought that the oilers should have claimed Seth Jones from Toronto. I know he has a bad save percentage but he wins games. He reminds me of Grant Fuhr.

  2. Also Campbell in the AHL gets them 1.15 of cap relief, and with Pickard having a lower amount than that of a cap hit, the Oilers will start acruing a tiny bit of cap space

  3. Pickard does deserve a shot here. Might as well test him out. He probably feels he has something to prove here.

  4. The Oiler blue liners are partially to blame for Campbell's demotion to the minors, but at the end of the day Campbell, as talented as he may be, he just couldn't pull it together mentally. Personally I like Campbell, but Holland tried to create an illusion that was not reality. Trying to convince the hockey world that Campbell is a $25M goalie. He's just not. Never was. Campbell will probably admit that himself behind closed doors. No different than the former GM in Calgary buying the BS from Florida's GM that Huberdeau is an $80M player. He never was. It seems now GMs have no accountability anymore when they get it really really wrong. IMO there should be more of a parade of GMs going through the revolving door of unemployment than coaches. Half the GMs in the league always have at least 1 major unrecoverable, unforgivable screw up signing on their resume yet always remain employed. I don't get it.

  5. Campbell is a great example of why you don’t sign a goalie to some big contract because he had a decent season for another team…

  6. Prediction: Sharks grab Campbell and go on an absolute heater, just make the final wildcard spot, win Stanley’s cup

  7. Thanksgiving is not an earlier than expected return time for Vasy, he was out 8-10 weeks…

  8. Watch out everyone who said the lightning would be done this year they're third in the division and vasy is coming back

  9. As great as Vasy obviously is, Tampa was not hurt by goaltending in his absence. Johansson has been really good

  10. Idk why Sens fans are booing, this is their team. Their top 4 players are at a ppg or higher, and I don’t even know if you can expect that to continue for Giroux and Tarasenko. Giroux is on the back stretch of his career and he’s gonna fall off even if it’s not massive yet, I wouldn’t expect him to have 80 points this year. Tarasenko isn’t who he used to be and is clearly not the player DeBrincat is. Josh Norris has been solid, 7 points in 7 games that’s about right for him at his ceiling. Who else is supposed to be contributing that isn’t? Matheiu Joseph is on a great pace for him with 8 in 10. Goaltending has been bad, but idk what you’d expect with Korpisalo and Forsberg. Korpisalo was solid last year but .902 isn’t an outlier by any means in his career. Forsberg’s best year was .917 two years ago but .902 last year was much more in line with his career numbers than .917 is.

So, I’m just not sure where this result is some kind of outlier of this teams expected results, and the way fans are acting I’m not sure they’d be happy if you reversed their wins and losses to 6-4-0, but I don’t believe they’re capable of much better than that and if they had been 7-3 or 8-2 I’d say that was a pretty significant outlier that were due for a correction.

The only two outliers I can really find are Ridly Greig who has started really well and I’m not sure you could’ve expected about a 60-70 point pace for him but he’s on track for that early.

Then Drake Batherson who I think actually was an outlier last year and I’m not shocked he’s not on pace for that same year this year but if we give that to them then yeah he’s underperforming by about a point or two to this point in the year.

So, yeah, if anything you’re right about at your level right now since the biggest outliers one is over performing and one is underperforming, that said if they can get some better defense and goaltending they could be a .500 – .600 win % team right around 75-85 points. Maybe 90 if they had a great year.

  11. One of the few good moves by not signing him for the Leafs but the Oilers must feel dumb by giving him that kind of $$

  12. Campbell getting the Cal Petersen treatment… Darcy Kuemper better be careful, it's a tough time to be a former Quick backup.

  13. How many years did edmonton tank? Never drafted, nor developed defence and goaltending. They deserve what they dont have.

  14. I'd love to see the Sharks snag Campbell off waivers and for him to have a statement game against the Oilers, but I can't see anyone in their right mind touching that contract with a barge pole.

  15. As a leafs fan I wish only the best for Campbell. He can be good with a good environment. But he still needs some defense around him. I feel he has been thrown to the wolves ever since leaving Toronto. Good luck bud.

  16. Sens fans need to chill, it's a good team that's going to get better. I was shocked to hear they have goal tender issues in Edmonton. What will happen next blame the defense coach GM

  17. finished watching this video checked the rangers score, 5-0 thought yeah he's keeping the streak

  18. Hey, I know this is something abnormal, but I think an interesting topic as a canes fan is how Martin Necas in Overtime is arguably the most clutch player in the league

  19. Panarin and Kuch off to fast starts…no complaints my two favorite teams…but Bolts definitely need the scoring with questionable defense.

  20. I would favor keeping Vasy out until we are sure he's healed not coming back at 80 pct….he played injured in the last part of last season and it wasn't good enough.

  21. Should also waive Skinner too, can't really say that Skinner is better than Rodrigue right now. However anyone with a good hockey knowledge knows that the Oilers have deeper issues than just goalies. If Oilers lost on Thursday then the next move will be Woodcroft getting the boot. This endless cycle of blame games will never touch the deep circle of Oilers nepotism.

  22. Holland your Family called ! " I AM RETIRING TO SPEND MORE TIME WITH MY FAMILY " !
HurryUp and leave TAKE THE $ 9.2 SLUG WITH YOU !!!!!!!

  23. I feel bad for any goaltender who has to play for the Oilers or the Leafs. They get the blame for poor "team Defense" and an offense heavy style that leads to giving up bad chances for the other teams. The Offense does not help the defense. The offense is always leaving the defensive zone way too early looking for offense. Everybody loves to say that McDri is so great but both have poor positioning in the defensive zone. Dri had four goals in a playoff game last post season. The talking heads went crazy over him. He ended the game in the minus column. He was garbage in the defensive zone. So those four goals meant NOTHING!!!!!

  24. I hope that Andrei Vasilevskiy can return before American Thanksgiving. He makes a difference when he's healthy.
