What the hell did we actually just witness?

Tonight as the Ottawa Senators hosted the Florida Panthers, we had ourselves the Tkachuk bowl and boy, it did not disappoint. This game had 167 penalty minutes handed out!! Several line brawls and at one point, EVERY player on the ice received a misconduct, something I have NEVER seen before. From start to finish, this was old time hockey and I loved every second of it. I cover it all in todays NHL video!

  1. What a wild game holy moly. Great breakdown! Sens gotta fire DJ Smith right? That team on paper should not be struggling this much. Players frustrations showing tonight.

  2. first i was annoyed that the game was on blackout where i live.
after watching the highlights … wtf Ottawa.

  3. Bravo sir! What an incredible recap of the absolute madness that was this game. You could not have covered it better 👏

  4. Not talking about the offside challenge only, but in general it always baffles me that people don't trust the situation room. I mean they always have better view and complete knowledge of the rules. Usually people who complain about these calls don't have that great knowledge, which usually can be seen in their comment. I mean it is fair and justified to be mad especially when the situation room doesn't release like "reports" of the decisions that explain them. That would be a good thing for fans to see WHY some decision was made. That could also improve the knowledge of the rules in general.

I am not dissing people who haven't read the entire rulebook, I sure haven't and I play hockey, but some people have formed their "own rules" based on watching games for long and don't want to see that the rule they have "formed" (or someone told them about) isn't actually the real rule.

  5. I guarantee you that the next three games are going to be legendary. Florida and Detroit are my new favourite rivals to loathe!

  6. My friend, Idk for a fact, but I doubt very much if this has ever happened. (The every player on the ice gets a 10-minute misconduct)

  7. Man i only have 3 screens. I was gaming with the boys on one, watching NFL on one (my fantasy matchup was reliant on vikings TE) and eventualy switched this game off to watch the lightning avalanche game because this one seemed ober.

  8. everyone on the ice a game misconduct. there is one thing for sure….officiating is a fucking joke.

  9. As someone who has watched for 20 years, I genuinely don't understand how anyone would see this as a desirable outcome for a game. All the stoppages and penalties not only lead to a worse game, but also just a ton more commercials. Imo if you live for games like this you just don't actually like hockey. It's like the equivalent of a racing fan who just hopes for crashes.

  10. controversial call lol. he's the only one with the puck near him, its near his sitck he's got control of it its his puck what is this 'touch up' garbage oh he didnt touch it for 3 seconds before touching it again oh ok sure

  11. I disagree, this is a joke and honestly makes hockey look like a carnival of idiots. Unsportsmanlike, these guys get paid to look like clowns. Disgusting

  12. a whole bunch of knuckleheaded comments on this page, calling this old time hockey, etc. old time hockey was hard hits and taking what you give out. you could thump somebody and do it legally. the panthers turn every game into an exhibition of bush league cheap krap. slashing, spearing, boarding, and blind side hits are not old time hockey. the panthers are an entire team of ulf samuelssons and claude lemieuxs. i've never seen such a collection of dirty hackers on one team. they can dish it out, but they can't take it without going haywire out of control. how come so many panthers games are like this ? the finals last year was an ugly bush league circus. memo to real hockey fans everywhere : don't let boobs talk about old time hockey when they don't know what it is.

  13. Haha! Havent seen this since it happened in a game i played 20 years ago. We had 5 guys on the bench and the opponent had 4 guys. We were down 1-6 but their best players had been ejected and our best players were still on the bench so we turned it around and won 8-7.

  14. I was born in ‘98 and I remember growing up watching hockey and you’d get a few games like this per year from your favorite team. I still love watching hockey but I miss when it used to be like this regularly! I went to one of the wild avalanche games and there were 145 penalty minutes that game. I know the 2000’s were nothing compared to the old days but there was still way more fights and stuff than there are now

  15. The rule is control of the puck when it goes across the line. WHO THE HELL HAD CONTROL OF THE PUCK? I DON'T CHEER FOR EITHER TEAM. REFS CHANGE THE RULES WHEN EVER THEY WANT. That offside was bullshit.
