[Meltzer] Tortorella (re: Zamula): “He’s wildly inconsistent, which is expected. It’s not a bad thing. I can’t tell you about his minutes. It depends on how he plays. I’m not going to keep putting someone out there because we need to develop him when it may affect the outcome of a W or L.”

  1. Say what you want about coach, but he’s given Z tons of opportunity. There will never be a time when Z doesn’t have lots of competition for his roster spot, so it’s up to him to win the job. I’m personally a huge fan of his game, but consistency is a big deal, pretty much the difference between Sanheim and Phillipe Myers. If Z can simplify his game, he’ll be a really nice play driver eventually. Hoping he can lock down a spot because we need a Russian in the lineup for when Michy comes.

These posts wouldn’t be so bad if Upcan didn’t have the absolute worst takes.

Honestly sitting him to regroup isn’t a bad thing, especially when the team has 8 NHL caliber defensemen. Especially since we have a lot of cap flexibility, we can take advantage of teams like, Edmonton, Toronto, and Pittsburgh are struggling one the back end in all-in-years.

Let Zemula sit and get reps in practice, and get back in the lineup when he’s ready. At 23 and 40 lbs heavier than he was at 21, the expectation should be seeing him in 41-60 games this year. Get him an NHL workload and then let him get accustomed to an NHL schedule and speed so he can hit the ground running for an elevated role at 24.

There’s not a coach in the world who will say the opposite of this

Torts is single handedly trying to rid this city of our fixation on random players

Hes not wrong about Z he has been super inconsistent which is expected of young players. It’s just holy shit…. Every single time Marc staal was on the ice last game he was sabotaging the team lmao. That was one of the worst games I’ve ever seen a defensemen play in a flyers uniform. I’ve never seen a player THAT noticeably bad. I don’t know why we signed him it was a move that made no sense I’d rather see Z competing with other defensemen in the system like attard or mete or belpedio. staal is like echl level bad these days.
