not a serious team…. minimum effort for years now
If Dubas was here, Nylander would've been signed. Hehe.
Its becoming apparent that 2 things have to change for this team to become legitimate contenders.
1) Marner. I don’t care how good his two way game is in the regular season or that he’s a passing machine or that his playing style is going to have the best longevity. He is never going to be the one to lead us to a cup. Multitude of factors why. Plays too small. His emotional poise of a 13 year old. No aggressiveness. Does not have an elevated gear for playoff intensity. Trade him for a top pairing defensemen and a middle 6 forward.
2) Keefe. He is basically a placeholder AHL level excuse for a coach. He’s never going to lead this team to a cup. He does not command respect of NHLers. The bench minors. In-game management. His winning percentage is riding on this top heavy lineup where he’s hardly set up any tactical structures himself and any regular season success really has nothing to do with his influence. The guys could practically coach themselves and have the same winning percentage
The team has changed a ton. Keefe and the defence has not changed.
Marner is the only chip we can deal…that can change this team …plus a couple of competent d man.
Haha zak venting out on the leafs …alright man these guys are notorious for choking when the have the lead….seriously need a coaching change.

Keefe played the ass off Nylander to a point where he could hardly skate the last three minutes. Matthews and Marner played the last 3minutes and 33 seconds, although Leafs took time out ,shifts still over a minute and a half, and Brodie played like crap, again. Keefe is a terrible coach, tries to win with two lines
No one wants a spoiled brat on their team. Trade him. You know of whom I speak. You may not be able to trade him but you could put him on waivers so the rest of our soft players get the hint. Hire the 2 Calgary defensemen and a goalie.

This is Why the Leafs don't see the Cup
Since Clark and Gilmore , the Big Investment Player matters more than the Cup.
Just keep Hiring Players that make the Leafs Star look good, F the Cup.
The Leafs had Gary Roberts, Ty Domi and Kevin Adams and the Management couldn't come Close to the Finals.
Those 3 Players without Sundin and Kaberle would have won the Cup but the Europeans were More Important than the Team.

Look at the Shift Replays and You'll see 5 of Your Pistons are in the Wrong Place and Misfiring almost every Shift.
There Diamond Shaped Power Play is Very Low Percentage Play and They wont Stop doing the Play.
Putting an Extra Player to Cover the Guy in front of Your Goalie is leaving the Rest of the Lineup Shorthanded Every Time the Leafs are in Their Own Zone, it's a Loser Play and the Leafs wont Stop it because it Helps European Players Score from the Hash Mark.
Why wouldn't You Cover that Play instead of Leaving it Open by putting the Extra Player in the Goalie Zone.
This is the same old group of five who have no interest in becoming a team, more interested in having individual stats. Things won't change until things are changed. They will not beat Boston or Vegas with a group like this. They are the same old team, doing the same old things.
We still need 2 or 3 very good D men. We may be able to get one with John Klinberg gone but we still need more. Marner isn't playing well and in my opinion Marner is the easiest one of the top 4 to shut down in the playoffs. We can't trade him because of the no trade clause which was Dubas's doing so all we can do is let him walk. They are delusional if they think They can keep all 4 players at 10 million plus and think they can win the cup. One of them has to go. I say Sign Nylander, let Marner walk, Sign Taveres to a 35 + contract when it runs out. We have to pay Nylander more. 3 million probably. Then we don't have Marner so we save 10 million. Taveres will be 35 so he will be reduced to about 5 million so now we have 12 million to spend on the rest of the team. Defense and goaltending.
The inmates are running the asylum! Marner will pout until Keefe gets fired! So self centred.
If Marner was making $1.5 mill a year Keefe would be all over him. Because he makes close to $11 mill he can’t say what he wants to.
Reaves won’t see a shift in the playoffs so why play him now?
