On this week’s episode of the HI/O Show, host Jessica Rusnak of CBC DayBreak and our panelists — Montreal Gazette columnist Stu Cowan, former Canadiens defenceman and assistant coach Rick Green and Andrew Berkshire of SDPN Sports — give their thoughts on how the Montreal Canadiens are doing with the rebuilding process.
They also pick their team MVP for the first-quarter of the season, who the biggest disappointment was and which player was the most improved.

Caulfield 😊
Montembault at 2.73 GAA, 5-3-1 and .910 save% with the Canadiens defense in front of him is nothing short of a miracle, is it sustainable on half a season probably not, are these great numbers for a good nhl goaltender not really, but for Monty he’s playing the best of his career right now.
Earlier on i would have said Monahan, but since he's stuck with Anderson his production became the Sahara.
Marty has to Healthy scratch Anderson for few games , He is negatively affecting every line he has been on , Monahan cant babysit Anderson , its affecting his production as all , put Monahan on the 1st line with Nick , and cole , put Gally on the line with Evans , if Marty can play josh up and down the line up making 5.5 M , why cant he do that will Gally , put Slav on the 1st PP , Anderson is negatively affecting the whole team , stop making excuses for him , we have other players who deserve those minutes, right now , send him down Laval , they had no problem sending Armia down , msybe a stint in Laval would do him good , score some goals , if he can , shamfull how Marty continues to play Anderson , hes singlehandedly torpedoing this team
I Didnt Watch the vid yet…
However my pick is montembault !
We need to play him way more
Monahan the MVP so far
The player as the biggest disappointment so far is obviously Anderson.
And about Anderson the Canadiens head coach should play him a lot more on the p.k. than on the p.p. with that being said, at the same time the Canadiens should still play on the p.p.because he wins lots of puck battles and the Canadiens don't have too much players like that in their top 6 forwards section.
I agree with much of what was said here regarding the Habs 1/4 mark report card assessment and the impact of Dach going down for the season in game 2 cannot be overstated. That said, I think that Newhook has picked up some of the slack; tied for 4th in scoring (with Monhan) on the team, and tied for first in scoring (with Caufield). Watching last night's game against Columbus, I made the joke that the Habs goalies must spend at least an hour a day practicing being ready for Habs giveaways. Even with a 3 goalie rotation, their goaltending has been giving them a fighting chance all season long; along them to make Sea Biscuit styled comebacks most nights (except against the KIngs where they simply were outmatched). I feel for Anderson; I never would have thought he's be scoreless at the 1/4 mark. While I agree with Andrew's mention of Guhle and obviously this episode was taped before last night's 4-2 win over Columbus, last night may have been Guhle's worst performance…I can recall at least two blatant giveaways he made, but this is uncharacteristic of his play generally and everyone has bad games. Armia has 2 goals versus none for Anderson 😲Lastly, I would like to see St. Louis give Ylonen a chance on the power play. Cheers!
Hey Anderson, break a leg! Literally, break a leg. We could use a replacement. Or change your name Andy. How about changing it to Scott Gomez?
my vote would go to either Ghule or Matheson just on points alone, both Caufield & Suzuki are at 18 pts as forwards and Matheson is at 17 as a defensemen, Ghule is the one player that has the best +/- of the entire team, considering there is only 9 players in the positives his +6 is remarkable
