Avalanche Suffer First OT Loss of the Season to Arizona, 4-3

We all saw this one coming, didn’t we!?

The Colorado Avalanche and the mysterious struggles against the Arizona Coyotes continued Thursday night as the Avs lost their first overtime game of the season, 4-3. It’s not like the Avalanche played a bad game, but they didn’t really play their style of game. Arizona did a good job of slowing things down just enough, which the Avs didn’t seem to have a problem with, but it’s also not how they want to play.

In the end, it was a Cale Makar own goal that gave the Coyotes the extra point and the win.

We break it all down on today’s episode. So tune in, subscribe and enjoy!

  1. Eh Arizona is just a scheduled loss at this point lol i just wanted a point and run away as fast as possible

  2. I noticed the same thing, it seemed like we didnt actually turn on the energy until we were down 3-2. Makar made a bad play instead of just trying to clear the puck, but lets be real hes been the best player in the world for the whole month of November!! Now has 34 points in 22 games, compared to Hughes with 33 in 24 games, and the Canucks seem to be on a downslide.

  3. I’m a Licensed Professional Mental Health Practitioner, and would like to weigh in to possible Psychological factors leading to a loss. I am no athlete and can’t even stand on skates. I’ve always wondered if some professional in my field, trained in Sports Psychology, might improve any team’s performance by addressing these factors prior to the match.
1, Concerning the loss to Nashville, could it have been those guys collectively agreed, “We are tired of losing to this team every year? They then become possessed.
    2. “Playing @ the level of your opponent”: This is some phenomenon to me I cannot explain, but has evidence.
    3. Game Plan: I listen to games and announcer talks about the teams that, “Clog up the neutral zone.” For a team whose identity is speed, skill and breakaway propensity, having consistent detours to who you believe you are, not only breaks down the physical level of your skills, but most likely creates frustration, dejection, confusion. Collectively, might that then become amplified?
    4. Hard to win at every professional level.
    5. Fight: I missed this game tonight and heard of this fight. More so, the hit Josh laid on their teammate. You both know that fights because of hits, gets the victims’ guys fired up. Anger, rage, etc, is a great motivator and as it’s an emotional juggxrnaught, the heart beats faster, rational thinking goes away, single-mindedness becomes the only thought. Our neuro-physiology is completely effected by the moment. When something occurs outside the realm of, “Typical, normal or expectancy,” that then can either defeat a man or make him an animal.

I did listen to the a.m. discussion about how superior in talent Avs were v. Desert Dogs. You gave balance talk about how they are getting better, but what I’ve tried to offer here was not brought into the discussion. [That’s all ok with me], but I too cannot answer the lingering question of how this team becomes the better team consistently over years. It’s results like these, defiance reason or logic, that I begin to lean on Psychological rumination.

Point is though, that’s why they play the game.

I appreciate you two hockey dudes. I lived in CO when the Nordiques came to town. Lifting the cup year 1 was magical to me. SuperJoe and Peter-The-Great, well, who wouldn’t get fired up by those guys?

  4. I'm praying that Arizona makes the playoffs. I know it's a long shot, but they are under rated, and I really want to see the Mullett host a few playoff games 🙂 GoAvsGo

  5. Arizona is a good young team that will continue to get better. They have beaten Vegas, TB, and The Avs in the last three games. Will they make the playoffs? Probably not. For the Avs, they got a point. Move on.

  6. Like i said last video , they are a sneaky good team and they play hard every night and every shift ! Got a point now lets get more this weekend😈

  7. I can’t believe the Yotes have now given it to all three I the last cup champs. They are going to be even more frustrating to deal with now that they don’t just have a joke squad out there. Did anyone have these guys making playoffs?

  8. It's my fault. Laying on the coach, listening to the game, it goes to OT and I'm thinking – here it comes, a freak goal…

  9. God help us if we ever meet Arizona in the playoffs. 😅 I don't know what it is about this team but they seem to have our number more often than not! And it wasn't even a matter of playing down or being lazy. Mistakes were made but the effort was there. The Yotes just play us well every single time.

  10. Of course, they had to lose against ARI. That is so typical for this team. Why can't they not go into every game with the same engagement? A boring evening with a disappointing ending. 👎🤮🤬
