The Minnesota Wild improved to 3-0 under new head coach John Hynes with a 4-1 win over Chicago as they improved to 8-10-4 by taking an early lead and holding it against Connor Bedard and the Blackhawks. Marco Rossi scored twice in the opening period, and Mats Zuccarello and Matt Boldy also scored for the Wild, who jumped out early and didn’t have to sweat their third straight game since Dean Evason was fired. Marc-Andre Fleury stopped 27 of 28 shots in the win, and is now 4 wins away from passing Patrick Roy for second most in NHL history. Kirill Kaprizov had an assist and Brock Faber also had two assists for the Wild in the win. The Wild are on the road on Tuesday as they take on the Calgary Flames for their next game.

My observation of John Hinz so far
His changes are subtle,but effective
One time management
Second, dropping the defense back to the blue line on the PK has made it more difficult for any team set up
Three playing top defense with Kaprizov line are huge but subtle changes,
I'm going to predict a ten game win streak 3 down 7 to go
Nice to see the Wild winning games they should win. Rossi is a nice surprise this season – solid play with some decent skill and fits on the first line. Merrill… ugh. Would like to see the D stop puck watching and be better at keeping guys like Raddysh out of the crease. The Wild are fun to watch again.
My early observation is as you stated, Haynes will play the hot hand and will tweak during the game. If 97 gets on one of his point streaks, this coach will plop him anywhere. Just got back from Nashville. I recommend anyone who wants to take a road- trip with the Wild, Nashville is a blast. Again, I won’t look at the standing until we’re +500…
I got a little bored and fell asleep for most of the 2nd period. My own snoring woke me up for the 3rd. Ive been on the couch all damn day. It has been glorious.

The Wild forwards are anticipating puck movement and making plays. Rossi’s play and positioning with his skill and quick reflexes is fun to watch. Boldy’s line needs to continue to find their own style of play suited to their strengths. His positioning led to him scoring tonight. He can be a dominant power forward (Ek too) that will be needed when the Wild make the playoffs.
Solid win by the guys, my boy Rossi is on fire, I hope he catches Bedard for the Calder. One more win for Fleury too, one step closer to Roy. Good stuff 👍
Overall, this team is now playing watchable hockey and winning games they should be. But this hole they've dug…we'll see what happens when we start playing good teams.
Good point on Hartman…Hynes seems like a coach that doesn't allow contracts to dictate positions on the team. That's a positive sign for sure.
