  1. The sad thing is, it’s all going to go to the same players the core for until it comes to John Tavares I’m sure his contract is going to go down a great deal I guess we’ll see

  2. Yeah i agree, however there has been dofferent indicators that this year will be different.

    The only reason the cap was flat was due to the pkayers paying back escrow. But while they have been oaykng thay escrow back thebleague has still been generating revenue. If on average the cap goes up by 2 percent and it was flat for 3 years thays 6 percent extra cap increase they have to make up for.

    The max the cap can go up in a season is 5 percent the thought behind the cap going up by 5 percent for the next 2 seasons is that this year the league is generating revenue aswell.

    If taking the average of 2 percent per year, the 5 percent kncrease only means an extra 3 percent. That 3 percent extra will cover some of the 6 percent that was missed while it was flat.

    A second year at 5 percent would gove another 3 percent surplus which would cover the remainder of the increase that should have happened but didnt.
