Now I believe Monty is our No.1 but with our goalie rotation am sure one of them got shafted by good teams.

Monty: CHI, MIN, CBJ, VGK, STL, TB, BOS, CGY, ANA, CBJ, SEA Allen: TOR, WSH, BUF, WPG, ARI, TB, VAN, BOS, LAK, DET Primeau: NJD, DET, VGK, SJS, FLA
Pretty balanced starts as far as quality of opponent, I think. Monty got a couple of the easier ones with CHI, 2xCBJ, and ANA(all Ws with either 2 or 3 GA), but he is far from being sheltered.

I believe keeping Allen around has also affected Primeau, he had that amazing game against the wings then they went with Allen the following game. For a kid where his confidence is the issue, they should just let him sink or swim. Give him the backup position since he’s cheaper/has way more potential than Allen. Allen has had many many chances to establish himself as our number 2 but it seems like every game he’s letting in 2 or 3 stinkers and it’s rare we get out of the first not down a few with him in net.

To be fair, there’s a game where Primeau’s stats suffered hard because of the teams poor play, he played better than Allen and deserves the second spot, imo.

I am not Montys biggest supporter but watching tsn highlights (I think) they said he had the best 5 on 5 stats in the league.
That said, I think if you want to have talent/skill with quick transition rather than systems with a mobile defence you sort of want that to start with a goaltender who is more like primeau who is more rebound control focused than shutting down the play. But that is a more theoretical take than one which works in a game and it does not mean Primeau is the goaltender of the future just that the more athletic style can be advantageous in the moment with the coach and team direction as we have been told it is going
