TL;DR: Cap expected to jump over 4m. Next summer with so many guys coming up for renewal, I think we all know it’s going to be impossible to keep everyone and everybody will have their opinions on who is or isn’t expendable. A jump of 4+ million could be the difference between having to choose between two guys or keeping them both though. For example trying to keep Tuevo, Necas, and/or Jarvis would be challenging with the current cap. A 4 mil bump means we easily keep 2 of them if we want to, and 3 is probably workable depending on moves elsewhere or with a little negotiation. Aside from still arguably needing a finisher (or needing someone on this roster to become one), I think the key to keeping our cup window open as long as possible is keeping as much of the core group of guys together for as much of their primes as possible. Or worst case, 4 mil might make an attractive free agent a lot more reachable for us.

The list of free agents next season scares me.
I feel like if we don’t get to the SCF this year, our window is shut until we can work Suzuki, Nadeau, Perets, etc into a workable core in a few years.
