  1. Not a bad signing for a Mil . He plays an inch or two bigger and 10 lbs heavier . Quick and aggressive a good Penalty killer . Been a pro for 5 years so knows the ins and outs of the pro game . Building the bottom 6 into a legit NHL bottom 6 . And this creates depth and competition for the Oilers brass to evaluate going into the 2020/21 season when the Oilers will have more Cap flexibility.

  2. The maximum amount of contacts a team can have at the start of a season is 50. This puts the Oilers at 49 contracts (not including RFAs)

So I’d assume we are done for signings so now it’s time to trade

  3. Busy day for the organization. Bako signed Jakob Stukel and Jake Kulevick to one year deals and Vincent Desharnais to a two year deal.

  4. Good signing in archibald but he isnt nugent hopkins winger. I believe that chaisson is the winger on the right side and ths left side is still up in the air. I believe the oilers will trade brodziak and sign maroon and he sill play with nuge and chiason. Derrick brassard id also approve 👍

  5. Holland has surplus bottom six players with contracts that can be buried. Is there even a remotest chance he can trade up to third line center with one and his remaining cap?
Could be a cap strapped team out there with this kind of need.

  6. Why don’t you like Gusev he’s a sniper that put up 90 points in the KHL who would play on either Mcdavids or Nuges/ Drais left wing depending on who is 2C if it’s a low contract for like 3-5 years it could work but it’s a bit of a risk

  7. Don’t know much about hockey but my layman’s stab at is that the Oilers are finding guys who can skate, and play defence and chip in the odd goal. Dave Tippett can work with that. Keeping out a goal is just as good as scoring one a and makes Connor’s, Nuge’s and Leon’s goals a lot more significant and meaningful.

  8. Not sure if it’s apart of something bigger , I think he’s a winger we can afford so he’s getting a shot since were in desperate need of scoring winger.

  9. However they sort each other out with their play on the ice, I guess. But those stats aren't telling me "top 6", and that contract is confirming to me not to expect it.

  10. EDM focus so far on team speed, depth , structure players in the pk. Archibald was part of the pk that was tops in the league last yr. He was on the 2nd pk unit with cousins. Fits the bottom 6 tippett likes.

Holland made short term bets to the bottom 6 scoring depth . Maybe a few can get 10 to 13 goals.
The bottom 6 should be better on the forecheck n pressure the opposition more.

Hopefully, haas, granlund, Archibald n nygard can help the pk and reduce goals against by 10 to 15 goals.

274 goals against last year. Not good.

The fwd role and structure players could take it down to 260 to 264 GA.
Edm needs to find ways to reduce goals against to 235 to 240 for a shot at thec playoffs. 274 goals is way too much.

Definitely see a trade for a top 6 this off season. Thinking nyr as a team to target.

  11. If I'm coach, who plays with McDavid, is who whoever shows me they are playing their A game, and is therefor the best fit, on any given night. Meaning, there's no "set line". "He who burns it, earns it" Ace96 1674

  12. So the hottest rumour from Gregor is Lucic and Russel for frolik and Neal. I’m okay with getting frolik and Neal back for Lucic. But sending a Dman off and not getting one back is going to hurt us. Also Calgary would then be flooded with Dman. The tires def seem
To be kicking on Lucic though 🙂

  13. Holland is adding as many players because the squad isn’t good enough and he wants to see actual competition which ensures the spot has been earned and not given. Gagner, Brodziak, etc aren’t good enough

  14. It's a bit late to add this, but one notable thing on the Archibald signing is that it might show we can get $1M players for $1M now. That's actually significant, I think.
