Right out of the gate the Shark were swarming the Red Wings, but thanks to Ville Husso Detroit escaped the 1st period scoreless. Then it looked liked the Red Wings figured it out when they got up 4-0 thanks to goals from Kostin, Rasmussen and Raymond in about a 5 minute stretch. But, nope, the problems this team had finally bit them as they blew that lead just as fast as they got it, literally. Too many odd man rushes, too many battles lost, and the inability of Ville Husso to make clutch saves had Detroit led to Detroit losing in OT 6-5. On the other hand, Kane had an impressive first game, he clearly has lost a step, but he was still very dangerous, hitting the post as well. Fabbri, Larkin, and Raymond stay incredibly hot as well. #lgrw

Husso needs a timeout. What a blown opportunity, this game. Gonna come back to bite us later in the season
San Jose outplayed us despite the goal barrage in the 2nd. D was awful and Husso couldn’t make the big save.

I think we need to pick up a tendie with a name. Fact is that we haven’t had a consistently good guy in net since Howard’s first groin injury. If we had a brick wall and another good dude on D we would probably have a season record similar to Boston.
I think the addition of Kane might take another game or two for them to adjust… Husso has been too hot/ cold this season and needs a reset. I like Lyon, but they should not overplay him and Husso is still the #1. Yzerman needs to end the 3 goalie circus soon. It worked for a while, but the deeper we get into the season the more it needs to end. We will eventually need to use that extra roster slot.
Velano is having a good year, but he can't centre Cat and Kane! J.T will be back next game. The team dosnt play confident in front of Husso ever!l We need consistent D and Goaltending. Deadline moves coming for a play-off run !!!!!

Husso is legitimately way worse than Ned was last year and Lalonde still keeps trotting him out. The team clearly has no confidence when he is in net. I don't understand why Lyon isn't starter already…most crushing game I've watched in yeara
What sucks the most was being a fan for this. I don't have much money but i spent it to go watch this. Like they said you throw to the sharks in this fashion it's just unacceptable.
SJ did two things to turn it around. They took a time out and pulled their goalie. We did neither.
On the plus side, Ras finally showed some life…or got lucky.
Tired of seeing goalie rotations. We need to see a guy playing good, be consistently in net, even if it's 3 games in a row or more.

After goal 3 i was hoping theyd switch goalie. Same after goals 4 and 5.
I had to go for a long drive after this game.
For lalonde to come out in the post match and call them lazy is damning. Those players will not like that being projected towards them, and im hoping it gets a reaction, have to be switched on and cannot lose goals on lack of effort its basic stuff. On to the next one, heads up peeps.

LETS KEEP IN MIND FOR SATURDAY, that Ottawa beat the Rangers 6-2 a few days ago in Ottawa. Another trap game
The wings went up 4-0 and then they got cute and lazy.
Larkin made a risky zone entry on the PP, and a needless pass through traffic, that bounced off a Sharks skate and led to a 2 on 1. Husso could have stopped the shot, but it never should have happened.
Veleno made a bad pass on the same PP, leading to a turnover and then a lucky bounce off the glass. Husso had no chance on the 2 on 0.
Kane got bumped off the puck behind the Sharks net (way too easily) leading to another turnover, and Walman was out of position, leading to an easy 2 on 1. Husso left hanging.
Walman, again at the Sharks blue line can't keep the puck in and then makes a lousy effort to get back and break up a 2 on 1. Husso, no chance.
On the 6 on 4, Seider and Ghost let two Sharks get between them and Husso. Easy tap-in.
In overtime, Raymond bobbles a pass from Walman at the blueline. Another 2 on 0. No chance for Husso.
How many times has Husso stopped a one on one rush? He is not good one on one!
If Detroit loses to Ottawa, then I foresee another 10 game downturn. Defence is horrendous. Coaches don’t know what to do.
No time out when things started to fall apart. No goalie change after giving up 4 in 5 minutes and yet again another penalty with less than 3 minutes left in the game when there is a chance to seal it with an empty net

This game felt just like the 3-1 series lead we had against Chicago in 2012-13 western conference semi-finals. Then we lost the series 4-3. All those horrible memories were felt in just 1 game last night.
As long as they keep playing up or down depending on the other teams record this will continue…..also kinda strange our 4th line scoed 4 goals and lines 1 &2 made all the mistakes and allowed them to get back into the game

I can't remember who exactly said this, but "The defense is the hardest part to build on a team".. It may have been Scottie bowman. That said, there is no reason this team should still be making the same mistakes from years prior like, blowing leads, or not playing the full 60 minutes.

It was a trap game. We've played a bunch of those lately, games against "lower" teams, and we just kinda sit back and let whatever happen… happen. We have to come out ready for war, not as if we just woke up and haven't had our first cup of coffee. It could've happened against the Wild, Blackhawks, and Habs. Instead, it happened against the Sharks. Hopefully the boys can learn from this.
Let's fix team defense before we pick a goalie to throw to the wolves on a nightly basis. Hell, this team can shut down other teams, we shut out the Devils after all, but since then we've slowly slipped into bad habits, and this time it bit us. If we stop doing that, then I think we can talk about the goalie tandem.
If the Wings don't hit 40 wins this year fire lalonde and trade husso
I think if lalonde doesn't cut the cheese get someone like gerard gallant to coach the team. He will hold the players more accountable.
San Jose had more speed and used the speed on the forecheck to disrupt the breakout and take away ice. Yes Lalonde should have pulled Husso. Similar to last year when Husso faded late in the season and Lalonde kept parading him out there. Play the hot hand. Hopefully the players stop falling down and throwing their heads back , trying to draw penalties, and stay on their feet particularly when chasing a partial breakaway. Refs do not like being set up.
