I could just go to Wikipedia but…

I’d rather ask my fellow Avs hockey fanatics. How many of you here watched a Rockies game in person? What were the games like? Any good stories? Who were the best players to come through here at that time?

  1. I went to a handful as a kid. My favorite hockey players of all time are Lanny McDonald and Chico Resch.

Fun fact: the first goal credited to a goalie was against the Rockies

The Colorado Rockies , they moved to New Jersey and became the Devils , they were founded in Kansas City originally, also how the MLB team got their name ( in part)

My dad would bring his own beers. Like pretty openly and no one would say anything. It was very chill.

  5. They played at the Denver coliseum, right? I think I went to a few but I don’t really remember them.

Went with my cub scout troop. Don cherry was the coach. Long time ago so don’t remember much except I was there.

Played in a mens league those years. Somehow Rockies gave our league their used gear. I have a pair of game breezers worn by #42.

When Don Cherry was the coach, the team was advertised under the slogan “Come to the fights and watch a Rockies game break out.”

It might seem random, but Lanny is popular in western Montana. His family started the Tamarack Brewery in Lakeside, Mont – with Lanny as one of the primary investors.

At the location in Missoula, there’s a big mural of Lanny hoisting the cup with Calgary. It’s one of my favorite bars to go when I go back to Missoula – and a decent hockey bar too.

No not in person but for some reason I remember getting a little soccer ball at a Denver Avalanche indoor soccer game
