The San Jose Sharks Almost Do It Again, But Fall Short In A Shootout

The San Jose Sharks overcame another multigoal deficit in the third period but ran out of gas in the shootout to the Vegas Golden Knights, 5-4. Start with how Mikael Granlund embodies this team’s spirit and never-say-die attitude. How, with a team full of players trying to get another chance, Granlund is the guy making the most out of his chance. Then, look at the analytics behind the game and how the Sharks cobbled together an offense despite William Eklund not being a player and Anthony Duclair leaving in the second period. Also, examine Henry Thrun’s first game back in the NHL and his pairing with Calen Addison tonight. Finally, the San Jose Barracuda had another up-and-down weekend, but Danil Gushchin has been a driving force for them this season and will be pushing to get back on the Sharks.

  1. How about a trade deadline prep with who will be moved and what you'd like back in return? Bonus question, between Granlund and Sturm, who would you move this year?

  2. Much respect from a Vegas fan. Sharks have been a lot of fun to watch lately . They play with heart and I gotta respect it. Going into this game I predicted a tough one for us

  3. Granlund has been a really nice surprise. When (if?) Couture comes back, do you think Granny will move to the wing? Slippy-Hertl-Barbie, Granny-Couture-Zetterlund could be fun. I think Granlund's speed and playmaking could work well with Couture's ability to find space and score.

  4. I hate to think about it in these terms because Barabanov is currently my favorite Shark, but I feel Guschin is his inevitable replacement.

  5. How much of the Cuda’s struggles have to do with coaching? I realize McCarthy’s importance to the org, but I can’t help but wonder if he’s a part of the problem with no prior HC experience.

  6. Not that anyone cares, but I hope they trade nobody right now. Maybe trade some defensemen at the deadline or after Christmas, even Bancker looks better of late. This team is gelled, and I can’t imagine any trade will be easy on the locker room. What I wanna see “Shark deeply” is how will defacto C Hertl handle backseat role to Clutch… or how will the team respond to his coming back? I feel like if we feel like we’re the Oilers, and can push for a wildcard spot… otherwise maybe Coochy moves on to a Cup contender? 🏆 He’s had a rough go as Captain on a non-playoff team, where he’s been truly valuable and wasted for 4 year’s rebuilding!!

  7. Do we credit Ryan Miller at all, with the surprise decent goaltending this year? Both guys look technically sound 🤙
