SASKATOON – The two keys to the Saskatoon Blades’ opening round playoff series against Regina Pats were using the home advantage and stopping score leader Connor Bedard. The Blades went 2v0 on Friday night as Bedard scored two goals and added an assist as the Pats took a 6-1 win in the Western Hockey League series opening. Zackary Shantz, Riley Ginnell, Stanislav Svozil and Tye Spencer also scored for the Pats, who trailed 28-25. Lukas Hansen scored for the Blades, who were down 2-0 in the third period.
