Kyle Dubas signals no big changes for the Penguins…yet

Happy Tuesday! It’s another game night for the Pittsburgh Penguins as they’re set to play the Arizona Coyotes. Before Hunter and Pat preview that game, they discuss Kyle Dubas’ comments from Monday and how he continues to be very patient as a GM. They look at how he’s not in a rush to make changes right now and analyze whether that’s a good or bad thing. They also analyze whether he’s right to die on Mike Sullivan’s hill since he easily could’ve brought in a new coach by now if he wanted to. After that, they dive into a preview for the game against the Arizona Coyotes and how the Penguins can snap their losing streak tonight. What must they do to slow down Arizona’s top players? Will Logan Cooley have a big night in front of his family? What lineup changes will we see from the Penguins? Finally, the two hosts give their thoughts on the latest Bryan Rust news.

  1. I am glad Dubas has let sullivan show who he is before making a coaching change. What i am not sure of is who has more of a bond with FSG. Would Dubas have taken the job if he cant make coaching decisions? Or does sullivan have the relationship since he is also a Boston guy? Minimally, Reirdon should not be in charge of the PP. Make Vallucci in charge of all special teams. Sullivan has shown he is incapable of change though. Giving Carter 17 minutes shows he would rather dress him than someone he has less of a relationship with. If he cant play the best players for this team and not just the veterans, then he is not the guy.

  2. That Dubas is going to let the coaching staff stay through the season is a joke. No need to wait until the All Star to declare the season is over. Just start selling assets now if you’re not going to fire Sullivan

  3. I listen carefully what dubas saying it seem until all star I think will decide what gonna happen

  4. Dubas is turning out to be way more patient than I was expecting. For some reason I was expecting him to be a super aggressive GM kind of like Jim Rutherford. I guess it could also just be that the market isn't good right now, there isn't really any trade activity.

  5. I don't mind that he is not overreacting, because I don't want him to make any rash judgement just yet. I think Dubas looked at the bigger picture to be honest, outside of the Tampa Bay game, the other games in this losing streak could have easily gone the other way and been wins. If the team had been completely lifeless and outplayed in every loss, I think his tone would have been different and we probably would see action.

  6. The East is thick through the middle this year. That being said if the Penguins find a way to be in contention in April a push for the cup is within this nucleus. Good luck Pens consistency and special teams will leave you within reach of the dance. 🎄
