Before you debate the reason Savoie was denied Exceptional Status:
They don’t provide an official reason but I can say with 99% certainty he was denied due to his lack of commitment to the WHL. He wanted Exceptional status to the AJHL in the first place so he could go to college. His family also said that the team that drafted him “needed to be the right fit” and it was believe he would refuse to play for a few of the teams that had the best odds at the 1st pick. Hockey Canada is very against the college route and players refusing to play for certain teams so they denied him. Physicality wouldn’t have been a problem for him. He’s playing up against 01s already and has no issues regarding physicality in the slightest.
