Great lesson, great teachers approach 🙂 Please, can you just add info about your club used – the loft and bounce? 🙂
Boys I've been watching this video a few times and practicing this shot a bunch the past few months. Just drained one today from 55 yards! Great tips cheers lads
What is the loft of club Matt is using in this video?
This video was huge for me last season. The 40-80yd shot went from being a weakness in my game to being strength. Now i'm thinking let's get this close and make that up and down for birdie, rather than thinking don't mess this up and possibly make bogey.
I was wondering if you had to open your wedge more to increase spin number
This shot is one of my best shots in my game
The explanations of what to do and why were excellent. Thank you!
Best video ever!
Out of every golf video I've ever seen, this has helped me out the most with my game. I started changing my swing thought with imagining a weight on my club head and I'm pulling it through the shot and not hitting at the golf ball.
struggling again and came back to this vid. amazing how over a year I forgot about the shorter back swing.
One of the best vids I've seen, but throughout, it was never mentioned what club he was using 🙁 56? 60?
This is the first video I have watched on your channel it came up as suggested. I have been and practiced my 50-100 yard pitch since watching it a couple of times and I can’t even exaggerate how much it helped me. I am suddenly in love with my wedges. Thanks so much! Subscribed. Will be checking out more of your videos
Why does he keep doing the whole for Matt thing😂
How about the water 💦?
Watched a few of your videos now and I have to say that you are great at simplifying and explaining a common issue that so many instructors struggle to explain. Great work👍. Now subscribed and looking forward to more of your videos
25 ft from 50yrds, come on Matt…. Your a much better player than that!!!
Did you mention what club you were using for this drill? 60? 56? I didn’t hear it in the video
Do u guys know what degree of the wedge is for this type of swing in 50 yards?
Thanks
which iron is he using here ??
Dude I know this one. Blade it over the green and play from the bunker
First short game video I’ve seen on YouTube that is correct
What device is instructor using to measure your club data?
I find that a Hogan style, hip centric swing is very effective in the short game. I learned it by using ‘Five Lessons’ as my guide for re-tooling my swing from the feet up in 2008 after 20+ years of trying to swing like Nicklaus as learned from ‘Golf My Way.’
The essence of the Hogan swing is planting the back foot square to the target line, or even a bit turned inward for partial swings, then turning hips, shoulders and hands together in the backswing to create twisting tension and torque in the back leg and hip exactly like twisting a torsion bar. By the time the club shaft is swung up level with the ground in the backswing the resistance of the back foot will load the back leg with the resistance of the hip turn stopping the hips 45° closed to target with the club head extended in the lead arm always in the same place in 3D space ready for the force created by the heave backwards to cock the wrist.
It is the loading of the back leg which allows a VERY forceful downswing and rapid acceleration of the club head into the ball. In ‘Five Lessons’ Hogan suggests a drill with mid-iron (e.g. 7 iron) starting with only 1/4 back-swing and 1/4 finish (level to level with the shaft) with the goal of learning how to unleash the wound up tension in the back foot and let to allow hips to drag shoulders and hands back down to the ball forcefully.
very informative by watching how the technique executed by a student, NOT A PRO. Easy to relate and learn. Also enjoy how Tyler showed the original swing then how the swing improved to compare along with the spin rates. Excellent .
Were you using a pitching wedge?
