Roberto Luongo Ring of Honour Induction Speech

“Those are the times that made me who I am today, and I thank you guys for that, because you pushed me to be a better person, a better goalie, and I really took that and appreciate it. And I stand here today and I really thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Roberto Luongo gives thanks to those who helped him along the way and shares his favourite memories during his Ring of Honour Induction ceremony.

  1. The guy wanted out of Vancouver so bad that he hated being overpaid cause he thought he’d be stuck there as a result & won nothing. Honor him, lol.

  2. Loungo is the one who stopped the goalie graveyard in Vancouver that was littered with the careers of Potvin, Snow, Irbe, Cloutier that not since early 1990’s Captain Kirk did the Canucks have a great goaltender

  3. I rushed to the arena and got there just in time for Lu's speech tho with my section finding my dad and Is seat. I still remember being 8 years old watching Luongo and was the reason I wanted to play goalie. Though I never went pro alot of why I loved being a goalie was because of him. Cheering lu again made me tear up abit. Amazing game by the Canucks and demer. And Bob if you're a goaltender tend the goal

  4. When I think of Vancouver I think of this legend. Loved that he played for canada. Nothing but love for this guy.

  5. Canucks are 20-9-1!. Everything going the Canucks way this year and I’ll tell you that for free. Plan the parade down Robson and Davie street all the way down through Stanley Park. Canucks are cup contenders y’all. Hughes, Pettersson, JT Miller, Boeser, Hronek, Demko all in their prime and hungry to win. Eddy G in El Salvador on satellite 🛰️ wifi and back in Vancouver in April in time for the Canucks playoff run in 2024!. So much good content for Vancouver sports radio and podcasts like RinkWide with Jeff Patterson and Halford and Brough and especially the Canucks post game show with Sat and Bik on 650am radio in Vancouver and the feud between Thomas Drance and Rick Daliwal is the best. The 2023/24 Vancouver Canucks are the only team since the 1984/85 Edmonton Oilers to score this many goals in their first 16 games of the season. And first team to have a quartet of players (Pettersson, JT Miller, Hughes, Boeser) in NHL history to score 25 points each in their first 23 games of the season even surpassing the 1984/85 Edmonton Oilers. That year the Oilers went on to win the Stanley Cup. You can certainly see the similarities between both teams. Pettersson {Gretzky}, JT Miller {Messier}, Hughes {Coffey}, Hronek {Huddy}, Boeser {Kurri}, Demko {Fuhr/Moog}.

  6. Love how everyone booed Torts, what a joke it was to not start him in Heritage Classic. Luongo is a class act, congrats to him on a great career as a Canuck.

  7. Thank you Robero , you still number one to me. This great man gave us two signed jerseys for our golf fundraiser for mental health thanks again.

  8. I haven't watched hockey for a long time, it's been difficult getting coverage in the UK but I started again this season, as always following the Canucks. This season has been incredible, this night with Lu brought back some incredible memories and relit my passion for this sport and this team. Lu was always my favourite player, and Denko is filling his shoes nicely.
