Dougie Hamilton is set to miss significant time due to a torn left pectoral muscle he sustained against the New York Islanders. While his defense isn’t great, his offensive capabilities will certainly be missed. Especially his contributions to the power play. The Devils are short in defensive depth especially with Brendan Smith still serving his suspension. However, on the bright side, Erik Haula will return to the lineup soon.

Defensively the Devils are better off without Hamilton. Fact
The reason we don't complain about the other guys is because they hustle and try to defend and play the body, Hamilton does neither
Doesn't matter..they've fallen too far behind now to make the playoffs..too many teams to jump over and those teams are winning..losing to Columbus and San Jose was proof its draft pick season again.

The power play comment was important… Last season was magic.
It's unfortunate that Brendan reacted to that cross-check with that slash because he was playing really well. I do like the fact in his hearing Brendan didn't try to make up some story like Jamie Benn he just said Konecny hit him first. But yeah, you can't slash someone like that. With Trouba I guess they believed he did that by accident which a lot of people don't agree.
