  1. Hughes will have some hard decisions regarding the defense in the future. Whatever he does, he won't be able to please every fan based on who gets traded away. It should make for some interesting discussions.

  2. Very bold prediction but if Heinemin stays he finishes top 10 in Calder. He isn't as good as Caufield for goals but is honestly close. Maybe like 14 goals 11 assists 25 points in 52 games.

  3. I looked at the defense depth chart and tried to picture the habs d-core in 3-4-5 years and here is what im coming up with…

    Left (not necessarily in order)
    Matheson
    Ghule
    Hutson

    Right
    Mailloux
    Reindbacher
    Barron

    7th xhekaj

Wich means the habs would eventually trade away :Harris struble, kovacevic, Savard and whoever pops up who would have decent value…

For now I would like to see the habs get value out of savard maybe package him with Harris. But they should hold on to kovacevic and struble to see how the younger prospect develops

  4. People are looking at the positives but why wasn't Slafkovsky told to work on his game in Laval he did not earn his way on to the team he was gifted his spot.St>louis I am sure had something to do with this as he also picked his spot to make Arber look bad to the media. An entire team of fumbling mistakes and St.Louis chose to pick out Arber is imo a VERY lame move by the coach.
The fact management picked aq defenseman first overall this year says they did not have confidence in this group which tells me they really don't have a clue because every single person that knows anything about hockey has pointed out from day 1 the Habs strength is by far our defense.
As to the mention on "development" has anyone watched Laval games? They are reckless zero emphasis on defense a VERY sloppy game that looks to have worse coaching than the habs so NOBODY is going to learn much in Laval.
The only positive to playing in Laval is if your a player not getting any ice time in MTL you might get it in Laval.Heinnemen is not a good player he has very little skill and the talk of his shot is lol way over rated.

  5. I think Lindstrom did a great job in the last few weeks. Stephens ok. I hope Heineman can boost the offence.

  6. Defensemen Tier List:
    Matheson
    Guhle/Kovacevic/Savard
    Struble/Xhekaj
    Harris/Norlinder
    Barron

Some people are asking: Struble or Xhekaj? And I think its truly a question of either Harris or Barron getting sent back down. My vote is Barron. Harris might not produce like Barron has done so far, but Barron is frankly a liability on defense. He has single-handedly caused countless turnovers and is to blame for far too many goals. I am not impressed with Harris, because I dont really notice him, which is honestly not a bad thing. Norlinder produced without the defensive sloppiness, I would take him over Barron right now.

I say we take our top 6, double down on the physicality of Xhekaj and Struble (with Guhle and Mailloux in the pipeline, what a monstrous defense corps next year!). Barron and Harris should be cashed in for draft picks or some forward prospects.

  7. Personally I would keep Struble in the NHL we need more physical players, like against buffalo it seemed like MTL was getting bullied a bit if we had Wifi in the lineup the hits woulda been a little more even and he would stick up for his team when someone delivers a bigger hits like seeing Caufield go after Tage Thompson was kinda sad so IMO if Marty wants to rotate Harris in he should rotate him with Barron and don’t touch our physical D-man

  8. If MTL wants to be competitive eventually, Harris will have to go. He is alright at everything, but elite at nothing. Good player who, hopefully, MTL will trade for an effective forward.

  9. So excited for tomorrow's game! Going to my 1st Habs game of the season and wanna see Emil Heinemin dominate game #1 in the club. GHG 4-2 MTL Heinemin 2 goals Caufield 1 goal Matheson 1 goal.
