I believe in Scott Wedgewood. He's been strong this year. Not his fault the team likes the make him face 40+ shots a lot of the time.

As a Canes fan I hated seeing Raanta have such a bad season but waiving him who is absolutely the right call. Simply put, Raanta lost us multiple games this season already.
I will be interested to see with which goaltender the Canes end up. Since Andersen is still injured, we only have one goalie. I guess there will be a quick trade before the game tomorrow?
No matter how bad he is Edmonton will claim him.
If only teams didn't spend every penny they possibly could, they'd be able to ice a roster after an injury

Wow…but then Raanta has been hurt more than he’s played (whole career, not just Carolina) and he’s been atrocious this year. So, not really a surprise.
Benoit Allaire, who has been the long time NY Rangers goalie coach, is the best in the game, no question. He has been able to successfully identify talent and convert underrated goalies who were either in other leagues or between the minors and NHL into legitimate NHL goals. Talbot, Raanta are no exception. I think that he likely deserves credit for Jonathan Quick's resurgence. As much as i believe that Shesterkin is a star, we should consider trading him. Run with Wuick and another goalie who Allaire can mold into a good goalie. Save that cap space for better forwards or defense, go win a cup.

I forgot about the Hurricanes not having an AHL affiliate. I wonder how the season has been going for Carolina and their prospects playing for other franchises that have no incentive to play them.
Things like not having a backup goalie being allowed is why so many do not take the NHL seriously. Heck, it doesn’t even take its own game, and integrity seriously.

there must be someone in the works for carolina already or they wouldnt have waived raanta…kochetkov is oki but hasnt been great either….and hes inexperienced at this level…my guess is anderson is close to returning
I've been a Raanta critic since early in the year, but this isn't great news. There was something going with this guy. I could see him going back to the Liiga and playing, but there is way too much bad film on him for him to get picked up…
Oilers should claim Raanta. Campbell and Pickard are write offs.

Raanta being waived is a surprise. He has been doing real good with a team that seems half asleep sometimes. I could see the Sabres picking him up, but they already have a bunch of goalies. Still though, it wouldn't surprise me if they made some moves to clear up some room for a veteran goalie. I don't know if it will help the Sabres, but they need some changes in either defense or goalie.
Pretty sure that the Hurricanes will announce soon that they have traded for a Gibson or a Merzlikins.
