[Walt Ruff] Father Finn stopped 18 out of 21 today, earning a win in Chicago’s 6-3 victory.

“He’d for sure want back the second one that got by him, but all things considered, I would think today was considered a step in the right direction.”

Gave up 2 goals in the first period, but rallied to only allow 1 goal in the final two periods.

Um, 18 of 21 is .857. And that’s in the AHL. I’m not sure how that’s a step in the right direction.

However, what this game did show is that if the rest of the team has a good power play that scores multiple times, finishes scoring chances, and is able to hit an empty net to total 6 goals, you can still win with a .857 goalie that allows a soft goal.

With a team that can’t score on the power play, can’t finish chances, and can’t hit an empty net, the goalie has to be much, much better.

He’s not magically doing to get better in one game.
