Tyler Johnson getting big minutes for the Nets in the playoffs is fun. That’s just an overall fun thing to happen. He was booty flakes on the Suns, so the Suns got rid of him, and then he was just hanging out being an NBA vagabond until the Nets somehow came to the conclusion that they wanted him to be their Spencer Dinwiddie replacement for The Bubb. Minus the blockchain bitcoin contract shenanigans. Minutes the cool goatee. Plus a cool (?) hair puff/quasi-afro.
But you know what would be way cooler than forgotten castoff Tyler Johnson getting big minutes for the Nets in the playoffs? I’ll give you a guess. Hint: it’s another player who failed miserably during their short stint in Phoenix. Need another hint? Does ice cream and waffle fries ring a bell?
That’s right. Michael Beasley.
Beasley was on the Nets for a glorious few days in July before his contract got voided because he got the ‘Rona. That’s a tragedy because I think Beasley could be putting up some serious pointage on this depleted Nets team, which was even more depleted than usual this game because Joe Harris had to leave The Bubb for personal reasons. When I say “serious pointage”, I think twenty PPG per game is the absolute baseline. 25 PPG per game wouldn’t be unusual. I could even see thirty PPG per game coming from SuperCoolBeas if he’s kept invigorated with an endless supply of waffle fries and ice cream in which to dip the fries. Who on that team has the clout to stop Beasley from taking any shot he wants at any time? Nobody, that’s who. Not even Jacque Vaughn (who I lovingly called “Jack-Off Vaughn” while he was ruining Andrew Nicholson’s career in Orlando).
I’m sad now. They should have just kept Beasley on the roster so that when he was cured of the ‘Rona he could rejoin the team and start dominating again.
