Turnovers Costly in Minnesota as Detroit’s Slide Continues | Patrick Kane Stays Hot

Patrick Kane scored his 4th goal in as many games, and remains a point per game, and Alex DeBrincat also registers a goal and an assist. Thats it for the good. Turnovers killed Detroit in this game, every time the Red Wings would give themselves a chance they would commit an atrocious turnover. Losers again. #lgrw

  1. Lalonde has to go. The man has no passion, never seems to know what to say to motivate a team. He’s just too nice with the most basic comments every post game. I’ve had enough. I’m so goddamn pissed off we’re squandering a chance to be decent with Kaner as a wing.

  2. Defensive coaching has been lacking for years. Go back to the left wing lock – stop flipping the puck out of the zone and break it out. Flipping the puck out of the zone is a turn over and not a break out.

  3. I really like Raymond but this year he seems to have to paddles for hands. I also think Walman is playing hurt or something is really broken, he does not look like the star top pair defenseman we thought he was going to be, doesn't win puck battles and frequently turns it over. A lot more guys are doing the same kind of things but these are two that I expect more from.

  4. Something that seems to get missed often when talking about Edvinson’s pairings is that he’s a left defenseman. The team only has 3 right defensemen with 1 of them being injured now (Petry). There are 4 left defensemen ahead of Edvinson. Ghost is comfortable playing his off hand and can therefore play right but it’s not his best side. Seider and Holl are the other right defensmen. Those are the options for Edvinson’s pairings. A part of why Chiarot struggled late last season was because he was forced to play right defense even though he’s strictly a left defenseman. If Petry was healthy and if Edvinson was still up somehow, he’d likely be paired with Petry. We saw this in the preseason as well.

  5. When you zoom out, you honestly really gotta start questioning Yzerman. Yes draft luck is a factor, but I still 100% believe this team pressed the gas pedal way too early last year when they first did their free agent frenzy of chiarot/copp/perron etc. If we stayed a bad team for 1 more year, who knows – maybe Bedard lands in Detroit, if not we would have fantilli, smith, mickhov, carlsson or really any of those top guys. Regardless, this team and future looks as average as it comes. Marco Kasper might as well not play with how poorly he is translating to the AHL, Nate Danielson extremely underwhelming in his league. Just very concerned about the future, SY gonna have to make a massive trade soon imo for a superstar level talent (ideally center that can play ahead of Larkin). Idk what he has to do or who he trades for, but something needs to happen or the seat will continue to get hot for him and lalonde at this point.

  6. If this is the system Yzerman wants to play, this is a failed rebuild. If this is the team Yzerman wants to build, Lalonde is a failed coaching choice. Either way, this is on Yzerman more than anyone.

  7. I still think we could see a January turn around as this team is either red hot or ice cold. This next month will make or break the playoff chances. If the Wings don't go red hot we will be seeing a fire sale of whatever assets Yzerman can unload.

  8. I cannot help but sit and wonder how many fans that are complaining right now, are the same fans that screamed we needed more goal scoring when we clearly needed to tighten up our defense. It doesn't matter if you score 12 a game if you let the other team score 13.

  9. Bring on Gallant!! If they keep this level of play up you can start tracking the 2024 draft prospects

  10. I saw an article about Patrick Roy for coach of the Wings. Never thought I'd like Bowman until.he coached the Wings. Just saying stranger things have happened

  11. Teams that have worst defensive groups do better, like Arizona or Philly. This does feel like coaching issue.

  12. I don't get to see the Wings often because I live on the East Coast. When I do get a chance to watch them, it is obvious that this is a soft team. Their goaltending is horrendous, the defense porous and offense lacking. Lalonde & the coaching staff apparently are not doing their job and may have to go. That could translate into Yzerman admitting he made a mistake. Some thing has toi give as this was the year that the Wings were going to put it all together. Right now they do not look like a playoff team.

  13. Goaltending is still an issue, you can't let teams beat you with shots on the ice, reimer can't handle the puck, and he's giving up too many rebounds, but that was the worst game I've seen seider play in a long time, and walman is basically a pylon out there defensively. Terrible decisions on defense, not clearing the defensive zone, pinching when unnecessary, seider and walman cost them at least 2 goals this game, and they're the #1 pair? Not to mention the amount of pucks that players knocked down off of telegraphed passes they were trying to make out there is extremely bad. I'd have to say lalonde is on the hot seat, hate to bring it back to the coach, but at this point they look unstructured, under prepared and predictable, this team is not responding to him and that's the first sign of a need for coaching changes, very disappointing.

  14. “The monkey’s paw curls”:
Patrick Kane is a Red Wing and playing insanely well and still has chemistry with DeBrincat

    At the cost of:
Kane being our best player and the rest of the team playing horrible, a slew of injuries, and the playoff hopes for the season
    😐😐😐

  15. time for the professor and fedorov to come in and take control of the coaching of this team we need players that know what they are doing and Newsy is sadly not the coach we hoped he was

  16. Can't recall seeing an NHL team play so sloppy and loose all the time. Maybe the very early 1980's pre Ilitch teams. At least twice the Wild has 3 on 2 rushes where the Wings two were forwards. How does that happen?
Note: Copp goal less in 22 games. A quarter of the season

  17. Respectfully I disagree with your assessment of Holl, seider and walman. Whole holl is no gem, he shouldn't have to be because he's a thi d pair damn, meanwhile you keep giving excuses for seider even though him and walman have been abysmal on defense all year long, the amount of times I saw passes from them both being intercepted or knocked down in this game is disturbing, Holl on the other hand plays a simple game and is at least physical with forwards in the d zone, I have no idea what kind of defense seider and walman are playing lately, they hold the puck too long, are soft on forwards, abandon the front of their net, make telegraphed passes, and attempt to carry the puck up the ice too often, while getting caught up ice and causing odd man rushes, absolute dumpster fire of a pair this year, and definitely not a top pair or at least not playing like it. I don't care who they are playing against, that's the job if you're a top pair, to play against the elite forwards on the other team, yet they don't play defense and abandon the front of the net causing the forwards to play too low and causing the team to get trapped in their own end. The idea that you have to protect your top defensive pair from playing defense is the strangest argument I've ever heard, they are defenseman, defense is their job. Hedman doesn't get put out just for offense, neither do any other top defenseman in the league. It's time to stop protecting seider and walman and hold them accountable for not doing what their job title is. I'd honestly bench them both for a game and bring up two defenseman from g.r., it's not gonna solve your problems, but doing nothing is not a solution either, and even good players get benched on good teams for not playing well, don't do this and you're sending a message to the rest of the defense pairs that this is how we play: poke and hope, pinch and get burned defense, not a recipe for winning on any team.

  18. The folly of it all is on us as fans. We saw how the team came out of the gate, and we thought they looked playoffs-bound. Some of us still think they're playoffs-bound despite everything. But the reality is, this team isn't built for playoffs, not really. *Generally speaking*, Our D is porous, our F aren't playing very defensively, and our G are kitchen sieves fit for late-night infomercials. We are not a playoff team, and it's about time people start to realize that what Stevie and Newsy said prior to the season is correct. They warned us, that we're not a playoff team.

  19. It'd been coaching and goal tending for a few years now.. Also missed opportunities and failing to clear the puck

  20. Both of you see the problems. Mr. Bentley very accurate assessment around 19:30 on the comparison of the culture in Boston. Most people see it now the million dollar question. How do you change it?
