  1. If atlanta gets ANOTHER team then they either have to go back to the 1-8 playoff format or give each other divison another team. Qubece city houston and portland come to mind

  2. Glad to hear about the green light in Atlanta and not Quebec. I whole hearted believe that a team in Quebec would fail miserably again due to poor attendance. Not even worth the attempt.

  3. If the Leafs are seen to have goalie problems, how bad is it for the Red Wings to have to go with two Leaf rejects in Reimer & Hutchinson? As for Atlanta, if they get another team you know it's just because the NHL's TV "partners" are demanding it, as in "We can't give you the money you want without you having a team in a major market like Atlanta." This same reason is why the NHL has so stridently insisted on maintaining a team in Arizona. I wish Canadian fans would realize this. This isn't the Clarence Campbell 1975 NHL any more.

  4. Wilds Ryan Hartman is back in the lineup tonight against the Redwings. Jared Spurgeon is day to day no other Changes for the Wild

  5. According to Yahoo Sports there's:

99 NHL players on the IR, IR-LT or IR-NR list.
    16 players listed as OUT.
    Another 7 listed as DTD.

    So that's 123 NHL players hurt . . . tho a few have illnesses.

  6. Blues fan who predicted hofer would take over starting job by christmas. Its still probably binny now that we are here, but giving hofer the game after christmas is interesting.

  7. TBH, expanding again is stupid. The NHL already needs to work to balance their schedule for 32 teams. Constantly trying to expand is not going to make the NHL any more profitable and it's not going to help them surpass the other 3 sports leagues. They seem to be obsessed with quantity over quality.

  8. Final game ended 10-0 for Team Canada. That's 2 full regulation games without a goal for Latvia in the Round Robin.

Slovakia being 2-0 and Finland being 0-2 was unexpected coming in, but the chaos is what we embrace in the World Juniors.

    Here are the current standings:

Group A: Canada (2-0), Sweden and Germany (1-0), Finland and Latvia (0-2).

    Group B: Slovakia (2-0), USA (1-0), Czechia (1-1), Switzerland (0-1), and Norway (0-2).

  9. No no no no no. šŸ˜

No more expansion. Thereā€™s too many teams clogging up pro leagues now. Any more additions and youā€™ll be seeing the likes of Juolevi, Yakupov etc. returning just to fill rosters. You want to pay ridiculous prices to see lousy NHL hockey? I sure as hell donā€™t want that for fans, plus WAY more ads on jerseys and the ice.

  10. Czechia defeated Norway 8-1. Also, this is an historic win for Germany. First time defeating Finland in twenty six tries. UNGLAUBLICH <3

  11. Everyone making the same tired argument about "Quebec this" "Bettman that" blah blah blah… could it be possible that the same metro area that built four stadiums in roughly 30 years is just looking ahead to replacing the Hawks' arena??!?!

  12. Got to love the Know-It-Alls in the comments about Atlanta's arena project getting the green light to move forward. If anyone thinks that fan support is the only thing that matters for the NHL even considering a third chance for Atlanta to have a team, you know nothing about sports business.

Keep talking about Quebec City "deserving" a team all you want, but if the Canadian economic climate and the Canadian dollar are not favorable at this time to sustain a team long term in that city, the NHL will not go there. Think there is a deep pocketed owner worth BILLIONS will invest there? We shall see, but it is highly doubtful it will be more lucrative than Atlanta. Face facts, the NHL of today demands a lot more financial backing of owners than 1995.

  13. There are hockey fans here in Atlanta!! Most people at this point seem to understand what a disaster thrashers ownership was. I understand the hesitation but this market can 100% sustain a team now

  14. Former season ticket holder in Atlanta for nearly 10 seasons. I loved my Thrashers, but that ownership group was more interested in legal action against each rather than concentrating on hockey. If there is to be another Atlanta team it must exist and play in the Marietta/Kennesaw area.

  15. atlanta can not and should not get a team. They have failed twice thats enough I would rather see salt lake city or houston or some other city get a change over atlanta. Atlanta makes zero sense. Thats nothing more then a cash grab if anything
