So the Leafs have lost three in a row and five of their last six. That’s a concerning stat.

    *Kampf gets scratched*

    *Always Sunny in Philly tune*

Leafs go 2-4 on the PK

Given the current stretch of games, the takes might be hot tonight but in a vacuum, a lot of positives in this game. They outplayed and out scored Carolina at 5 on 5, and they’re arguably the best team at controlling play at even strength in the league. Jones performed well enough to get a win and they gave up 0 goals at even strength.

Special teams is the story of the game. Going 0/3 on the powerplay is a killer. The penalty kill was also bad, and people will spin hot takes on Kampf sitting, but he’s the worst PKer on the Leafs by all metrics per natural stat trick. I doubt he really moves the needle on either of the goals.

If they play like they do tonight at evens and get better powerplay performance, they will be fine. Hopefully Jones can continue at this level!

The silver lining is that the guys know they have one goalie they can rely on right now at least.

If Keefe is serious about those defensive mistake comments, Mitch should be sitting next game, and if not next game without a change in effort, then for sure the game after that. What he was doing today is absolutely unacceptable. Responsibilty extends to everyone, don’t care what the name is on the back.

  5. Ambarsariyaaa

    Marner isn’t worth a cent over Aho’s 8.5m

  6. So Marner is a healthy scratch next game right Keefe? Accountability has to apply to everyone.

  7. Gear4Vegito

**1-4-1** since the huge 7-0 win against the Penguins.

    * W: CLB (28th)
    * L: CLB x2 (28th), OTT (29th), BUF (25th) & CAR (12th)

Been lucky TB has struggled and the rest of the Atlantic sucks outside of BOS/FLA. *Loss all the games on hand we had too…*

  8. Remember that one time Marner played with Domi and they had a great game together?

    Because Keefe doesn’t.

  9. RyyKarsch

17 wins in 34 games and barely hanging onto a playoff spot. I know goaltending is rough, but there’s other issues this team needs to address, too.

  10. TorontoIndieFan

Some idiot tossed there jersey during the review, I’m at the game. Close game of a b2b and they’re in a playoff spot. The crowd booed him lol

  11. Volderon90

What’s the year? 2019, 2020, 2021? Same shit just different year. We’ve actually gotten worse. We have no D and we have no goalie and we still can’t impose will on the other team.

I think we’re done here. We’ve all seen this before.

  12. JRocleafs

You CANNOT bench Kampf for defensive lapses in the offensive zone and NOT punish Marner after tonight.

It starts from the top down not the bottom up. Marner starts next game in the bottom 6 or in the press box. Otherwise there will be internal issues.,

  13. Jones gave them what they needed to win, which is all he’s paid to do. A #1 might stop one of those chances but a third string letting in 2 is a solid performance. Below our goal line is still a massive issue and has been for years. I’m not sure an 80 year old Mark Giordano and the ghost of TJ Brodie are really the answers there.

  14. Glad the 4th line centre was benched, really gave them the shock they needed to come out and win. Oh wait.

  15. Existing_Search5963

TRADE MARNER IM SICK OF WATCHING THIS GARBAGE

  16. chai_bronz

Canes played with tenacity and deserved that win. Look how they hung onto the lead at the end. Clogged the zone, had two Cane players all over whatever Leaf had the puck, kept their structure, didn’t fold whatsoever. Leafs should be studying this tape to learn a few things.

  17. Carolina just played harder and smarter. Simple as that.

    Back to back? Maybe.

    But they just played harder.

  18. if keefe is preaching accountability then Marner starts on the third line next game

  19. PaleKing96

If a third or fourth liner did what Marner did at the end of the game they’d be scratched for sure, but accountability doesn’t count for him apparently.

  20. Mother_Musician_7793

Shanny and Keefe need to be locked out by MLSE in the morning.

  21. -ApplePineapplePen-

This team has a weakass culture. No accountability within the group. No one getting everyone to buy in and play a true 60. It’s just a group of individuals (highly skilled) kinda working together.

This is why there is a chasm between what we expect and what they produce.

  22. Man, how does it feel like the Canes are always playing with a power play in their own zone? The defensive structure is INSANE on that team. It’s like you don’t get even half a second to think.

  23. Firm-Sail8871

Leafs played garbage for 2 periods but everyone is going to hang the loss on a single person. It’s easier to do that than accept the team is just trash.

  24. SmokeontheHorizon

We have a worse record than the fucking flyers and people are still making excuses trying to find a silver lining

  25. Svalbard38

Shoutout to Nicky Bobby for scoring a late goal and not just giving up.

  26. Gavin1453

Double point night for Domi and Lilly. Better than the top lines

  27. ElephantShell34

At the end of the day the Leafs are just not a very good team and we need to collectively come to terms with that.
