Is it ‘cruel’ to keep using Samsonov at the NHL level right now?
7-Eleven That’s Hockey host Gino Reda discusses whether it’s cruel to keep using the struggling Ilya Samsonov at the NHL level right now, considering he’s given up 25 goals in his last six games.
Keefe should be fired for continuing to GAMBLE on a goalie who clearly can't stop a beach ball. Keefe has since become the problem, not Samsonov. Weak minded coach. Players sense it. He cares about feelings, not about winning Stanley.

Its not on Samsonov when the D is leaving an opposing player wide open in front of the net. They did it twice against CBJ last night and even the first goal Carolina got against the Leafs today (Dec.30) was the exact same thing.
Letâs be clear the Leafs are not going to contend for the cup, unless they address their defence, goaltending, secondary scoring and structure. Perhaps it might be best to start at the top and scrap the Brendan Shanahan plan, cause it ainât working! Ineptitude at the management level has been their curse and will continue to be until they hire someone that knows what theyâre doing.
Some players arenât built to play with the spotlight you get on some NHL teams. We need Fleury, Quick, or even a goalie like Allen would completely change the look of the Leafs. Goaltending is the biggest thing weâve been missing in the Matthews/Marner/Nylander era. Andersen was great but always getting injured and trying to play injured.
Management is to blame. Year after year the leafs forgo elite goaltending and then are surprised in the playoffs when they're destroyed by teams with goalies like Bobrovsky, Vasilevskiy, Price etc.
Good luck getting a goalie, pittsburgh locked up Jarry for good reasons and grabbed two more for good measure. Getting a goalie at this point is going to cost a fortune
Get over yourselves Totonto… Samsonov is NOT the problem! The problem is the rest of your team play as if they have Shesterkin or Vasilevskiy in goal behind them.
He doesnât even sound like he wants to be a Toronto Maple Leafs. He doesnât sound like he wants to. He sounds like he needs to leave. Pronto stat fast as possible. Get rid of them quick because he doesnât wanna be there. He sounds unmotivated and a downer.

Why is it a good goali goes to the leafs and suddenly cant stop a puck eg campbell freddie anderson sampsanov etc … just asking .
Is Jake Allen a better improvement than Jones? I don't know. Jones played well tonight. Leafs didn't score for him.

Leafs have killed many of young goalies throwing them in a position to fail to early.
