What a horrible season for Norlinder so far in the AHL after a very good preseason with the habs. 2 points in 21 games and -19. His contract will end at the end of this season. Do you guys think he goes back to Sweden or Montréal give him a chance with a contract?

He’ll go back to Sweden I think. No way do we give him another contract, we have too many defenseman as it is with more prospects on the way

Remember when this guy was our #1 defence prospect?

It’s unfortunate especially after the camp he had. Feels like he put everything into that and now is frustrated about not making the team.

  5. Perfect example of not overhyping prospect pools. They can look incredible but rarely pans out the way fans think it will.

Luckily ours is deep and there’s plenty of other options and chances.

Goodbye. Lol at the fans of this sub who hyped the shit out of him too

Wonder if they trade him to maybe give him a fresh start elsewhere.

He’s still very young. I doubt he wants to go to Sweden already.

  8. He’ll go back to europe and Engstrom will take his place.

I’m grateful that mailloux gets to play beside xhekaj instead of this guy

  10. There’s no way Norlinder is extended a contract. For the sake of his career he should go play in the SHL.

It’s a shame, really been wanting some Swedes on our future roster.

Saw him in Laval and he looked like one of the best skaters on the ice

Wouldn’t read too much into +/- on a laval team that has had some very spotty goaltending this season.

On the other hand I can’t say I’ve ever understood the hype around norlinder. I think he was drafted as an overager and his game is more quirky than something that looked projectable in the nhl. Like, he’s an undersized defenceman who jumps up in the play a lot but doesn’t seem to translate that into lots of scoring?

Could regret it but seems fine to let him walk considering the glut of defencemen in the system and his age. Leaving aside the young guys with the habs, does he even have more potential than Xhekaj, Trudeau, Mailloux? Doesn’t seem like it’s worth worrying about the 4th best defence prospect on the farm team.

  14. Norlinder slowly becomes our most over-rated prospect of all times.

Yea should’ve traded him earlier this season.
