Lot of “hell no” but, he is really just mentally not there. A Lot different than Raanta who is losing his ability to play. Taking him and putting him into a less stressful position wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world.
With that said
we don’t have the funds to take him on and would be better off trying to broker a deal for him. Gotta figure Toronto would take the cap help and pay to move him if they could.

If he was free, maybe.
at his AAV? no.

He is a UFA after this year. Nobody gonna touch him with a ten foot pole ESPECIALLY with his skill decline.
According to someone in the comments on that article: The Leafs rank in the top 8 teams in the league for both high danger and medium danger shots against. They rank 6th in the league for defensive zone turnovers. 1st in the league for hits taken.
I’d wager to think that the Canes are at least a little better than this without looking. Maybe a change of scenery is what’s needed for him since the Leafs defense isn’t doing him any favors. I still wouldn’t claim him off waivers though at his AAV. Maybe if this was like the MLB when someone is DFA’d they’d become a FA and free to sign elsewhere.

This can’t be a serious question, can it?

Definitely not at this point, but I do recall people here (including myself) wanted him when he was at Washington.
At this point, any extra capital should be going towards a scorer. It’s great to see some of our guys get back on track, but others have disappeared. Hopefully a 75-25 or 80-20 split between PK and Raanta holds up until Freddie gets back. (If Freddie comes back. Hoping him being medically cleared to skate means he will be back)
