Reviewing New Year’s Eve NHL Evening Games

Reviewing New Year’s Eve NHL Evening Games

Welcome back all right I’ve decided that’s it I’m not review after tonight I’m not reviewing another game in 2023 to heck with it no I’m not doing it um 2023 games are just they’re they’re not good so I’m not going to review them anymore I’m done all right so while

That’s sinking in with people happy New Year tonight of course we’re doing a live stream in a little bit here obviously it’s going to be after this video’s been recorded and uploaded so it might be a little bit of time I might be a little bit late that’s how I’m putting

It all right going to start off talking about Boston and Detroit doesn’t help when I’m going to ramble right but yeah swayan versus lion in this one uh good early back and forth the Bruins press 2 minutes in we get Zone time for the Bruins but they’re not getting shots at

This point uh fabry hits the outside of the net there’s a kick save on debrusk from the slot poock has a shot that’s held makavo is denied on what was a fouron three rush we then get a power play for Detroit de Brink’s denied it’s cleared out Boston kills that off uh

Things get Punchy in a Hold by lion the Bruins get a power play that was killed off one shot the wings get a power play soon after that uh things get Punchy and a hold from swayan which means one from each team goes to the box it just felt

Like there was a lot of punching going on in this game teams may not like each other very much uh Bruins finished the kill and then at 1908 the last minute or as caps fans know at the McNugget minute uh Frederick scores from poer knock and

W spoon he roof set on a net drive and he collided with Alex Lion on the play uh lion was shaken up he gets up he skates around he ends up staying in the game he was is okay but it’s one- nothing Boston after one second period

Early pressed by the the Bruins uh things get pushy on a Hold by swayan and then at 425 on a five hole goal kind of from a distance Frederick scores from makavo and Lindholm so suddenly it’s two nothing Boston the wings though they press for response Raymond fires one

Wide on a rush the shots are 6 to3 Detroit 9 Minutes in we get a power play for the wings that’s killed off and then at 1301 Walman scores to get Detroit on the board he scores from Larin and Raymond uh the wings then press to tie

It zaka to De Brusque there’s a near miss the puck goes the other way and it’s a Tic Tac toll play sherro scores from cop and voleno at 1642 it’s a Tic Tac Toe play so there’s a goalie interference challenge it ends up counting the Boston announcers not

Understanding exactly why I I was kind of on the fence with it a little bit uh does he touch San’s arm yes is the puck in the vicinity also kind of yes but again it just it’s such a bang bang play that it counts uh but because the Bruins

Ended up with the uh challenge that’s unsuccessful the power play goes to Detroit so uh that goes on until we have 36 seconds of four on four poster knock then gets denied during the Bruins power play lion holds on everything gets killed off it’s 22 heading to the third

Raymond to to Walman near Miss uh the wings press at 2 minutes and then on a Faceoff win the Bruins score coil from makoy and Marshon at 352 Wings press for an answer the shots are 4 to3 Detroit 8 minut and it’s in debrus has a tip shot

That’s held 823 left the wings with a power play that was killed off and then at 1759 it’s an empty net it’s de Brusque he’s falling to the ice at Center uh he scores from Frederick and McAvoy so Frederick and McAvoy on the board a bunch tonight uh then with 130

Left it becomes a six on four as they pull the goenda for from De Brink and Pon at 1837 so they pull the goalie again and it’s the second empty Netter this time at zaka from poock and Lindholm at 1936 Boston wins one it it wasn’t a Picasso

By any stretch um in that it wasn’t a a a masterpiece but it was kind of a Picasso and it was kind of ugly at the same time uh 227 and six win for Boston what Picasso is going to come get me uh Detroit 176 and four with the loss shots

On net 8 to Five Boston in the first I’m not scared of Picasso anywhere anytime uh Detroit outshoots Boston 13 to9 in the second and 10-7 in the third final fin shots 28 to 24 for Detroit power plays Boston 0 for two Detroit 1 for six

The hits 15 to 12 for Detroit swayan saves 25 out of 28 at one end and at the other end lion saved 19 out of 22 all right next up uh Boston or Buffalo I should say and Ottawa Boston’s here Buffalo’s here try to keep up

Shannon I know you’re not doing any more reviews until next year but come on uh Levi versus forsberg early jump for the send the Savers press at 2 and A2 minutes but they’re kept to the out side teams exchange turnovers the shots on net are three a piece at 4 and A2

Minutes we get a power play for the S they score on it it’s Chan onetime onun a good cycle Drew and Sanderson with the assists at 651 sends then press for another Castle looks denied and close it’s cleared out things get push and a Hold by Levi it’s really all Senators at

This point Greg can’t bury one the Sab steal they rush but then on a net Drive makavo scores he wires it or McAvoy mchan scores I still got Boston on the brain uh mchan scores from Bernard Docker and Shabbat at 1238 uh the Sabers then press for response Norris has a

Rush chance that’s held the s’s press in the final minute but on a turnover Thompson scores from Skinner in 1946 so it was an Own Zone turnover by the SS and they make him pay it makes it 2 to1 Ottawa after one second period stsa prevents a goal from Skinner uh teams

Exchange Rush chances the sends press at four minutes but they don’t get shots the shots on that are 4 nothing Buffalo at 6 minutes middle stat has a screenshot that’s held and then at 718 on their first shot on net it’s a backhander on the rush kubal scores from

Greg and Shabbat to make it 3 to one for Ottawa uh Thompson then has a shot that’s held we get a power play for Buffalo Dalene has a blast that’s saved that power play gets killed off 319 left the Sabres go back to the power play petka has a one-time held that was

Killed off as well and then at 1944 calick scores one from branstrom so that’s an insurance goal there and so that makes it uh 4 to one in favor of the s Norris would have an early Miss early on or near Miss early on the Sabres would

Clear it out as now the SS are looking for more in the third period Senators press at three and a half minutes tuck has a shot that’s held Sabers press the s’s blocking the net the send score but it’s an offside goal so that comes off

The board things get pushy on a Hold by forsberg we end up with some fouron four Sabers press with eight and a half minutes left gurgenson is denied from a sharp angle the goalie pull happens early which allows Zub to hit the empty net at 1516 the sends then nearly scored

Again in the closing seconds but the review showed that it didn’t quite go in but it’s okay the sends win this one 5 to1 they go to 14 and 18 with the win Buffalo rough loss 151 19 and four with the loss shots on that 18 to 12 Ottawa

In the first 18 to5 buffalo in the second and 16 to8 buffalo in the third 34 shots in the final 40 minutes for Buffalo none of them went in Final Shots 46 to 31 buffalo power plays Buffalo 0 for three Ottawa 1 for one the hits 27

To 23 for the Buffalo Sabers Levi saved 26 out of 30 forsberg saved 45 out of 46 so yeah uh sends important win for them all right next up the Islanders and the Penguins so I think the Islanders are kind of tired dealing with the penguins penguins on the other hand really like

What the Islanders do for their goals against so it’s sokin versus NAD delovic uh Martin and ludvig had a fight 7 seconds in so that was interesting uh cikas is denied on a fast break and then at 218 Eller opens the scoring f Penguins he scores from Harkin and pen

In uh penguins look for another but the shots on net are 5 to2 for the Islanders 7even minutes in pressed by the Penguins with n and a half minutes left we get a power play for the Islanders Nelson gets robbed twice as NAD delovic had a great

Game uh and the Ovation was widely um basically the fans all get up they give him the Ovation and and I think that was widely deserved there’s the term I’m looking for it’s no wonder I need the rest of the year off um that so that’s

Killed off the shots are now up to 13 to7 for the Islanders we get a press by the penguins are kept to the outside Penguins press with 2 and A2 minutes left with 134 left penguins with a power play that becomes 53 seconds of five on

Three so some of that rolls over into the second period Crosby fires one high during the five on four after the five on three is done the Islanders do finish the kill however instead of getting that boost from it achari deflects in a net feed from OK coner at 220 so shortly

After the power play is done the Penguins Get on the board anyways to make it two to nothing uh fashing is a net drive that’s the shots on that again favor the Islanders at this point four to3 at 6 and2 minutes uh the penguins get their third power play that’s killed

Off Pon has a shot that saved as the Penguins press Nelson had a slot shot that was held the Islanders press with eight minutes left Nelson has a wraparound that’s held uh Le’s denied NAD delovic holds 331 left the Islanders with a power play Dobson fires one wide

It’s cleared out that’s killed off so we go to the third period with the Penguins leading two nothing uh there’s an early Crosby shot kick save there the shot are 4 nothing Pittsburgh 2 and A2 minutes in Le’s denied um and then NAD delovic just

Lays on it so when you don’t know where the puck is just lay down and it works uh Penguins press at 7 minutes but eventually buluk does put the Islanders on the board at 1351 unassisted so that makes it two to one uh Malin then fans

On one in a two-on-one rush and then Lee the other way he fans on one as well the Penguin’s clear the goalie pull happens in a 1917 Eller hits the empty net uh to make it a 3 to1 lead and with 34.3 seconds left the Penguins get a power

Play which lane Lambert reacted to very calmly not really anyway so the Penguins end this on a power play they go to 1813 and four with the 3 to1 Victory the Islanders struggling at this point 1710 and N overall shots on that 1411 Islanders in the first 12 AP piece in

The second 1511 Pittsburgh in the third Final Shots 38 to 37 for the Penguins power plays the Islanders 0 for two Pittsburgh 0 for four the hits 25 to9 for the Islanders uh soken 35 saves on 37 shots NAD delovic 36 saves on 37 shots so that’s an entertaining statline

Right there all right next up uh Montreal and Tampa Montreal almost pulled off the upset and then to quote uh something that gets said a lot in hockey they poke the bear so it’s monteo versus Johansson uh Paul gets tied up in close can’t Barry won the Habs had the

Only shot on at 5 and a half minutes in and this felt eerily similar to the Florida game last night where Montreal just decided we’re not going to let anything happen in the first period this is our plan so M has a shot that’s blocked and cleared slavkovsky to matth

And gets blocked at the net uh Gallagher can’t bury one in close Evans fires one high the bolts finally cleared out the shots are only four to two but they’re in favor the Habs with seven minutes left a bit of a surprise there uh Point

Beats out an icing we end up with a power play for Tampa Bay that’s killed off the Habs pressed close out the period it’s scoreless after one second period get a power play for Tampa Bay that’s killed off and then field does it himself at 358 and so it’s one- nothing

Montreal at that point Anderson takes a 5minute penalty it becomes a two-minute penalty which the fans were not happy with uh and When the Smoke Clears because of all the fraus that takes place we’re actually staying five on five so rather than Anderson getting a five-minute penalty and maybe Department

Of player safety he’ll end up saying something about it tomorrow instead nope they can take the Dow uh so net feed to stamp Coast misses the shots are three to one for the Habs at seven and a half minutes uh Celli fires one wide on a two-on-one after the Habs had some

Pressure at the half Habs score uh the bolts had stop playing so what happens is montmo grabbed the puck I thought he held it too I had actually put on the board montmo holds the shot but he puts the puck down kova Savage looks down the ice the bolts are skating around like

The whistle gone in fact the the lights on the ice they do during stoppages that’s going on too and kova svich just figures all right I’ll give it a shot and so from 200 ft away he put puts the puck into the empty net because Johanson

Wasn’t in the net he’s skating around as you know you do when it’s when it’s a a stoppage right um it counts the fans the team everybody goes nuts kovich the easiest goal he’s ever going to get although from that distance it’s impressive monteo with the assist because he realized hey everybody

Stopped playing that’s at 1159 and the review says goal so I was kind of surprised that on the review they didn’t go well he was holding the puck we should have blown the whistle there but I don’t maybe they don’t have that call maybe they can’t do that either way it

Counts it’s two nothing Montreal interestingly enough I feel like that’s what woke Tampa up the the bolts were choked they could not believe that counted so at 14 minutes uh Point wires one on a fast break from Paul and Hegel and then at 1736 Watson scores one five hole from a

Sharp angle you really need a save there from monmo headman and perix with the the assists it’s 22 and it really feels like that two- nothing goal was a turning point just not in the way that I think Montreal would have wanted it to be uh so Anderson’s tonight on a rush

Coffield to slavkovsky there’s a near Miss but yeah it’s 22 after two third period early jump for Tampa aimont has a shot that saved it’s cleared out the shots are three nothing Tampa at 4 and a half minutes the Habs Press Tampa Bay blocks though and then Dean barries went

On a rush from COV and stamp Coast at 749 suddenly Tampa Bay has their first lead of the game uh Tampa Bay looks to add another sard’s denied but he ends up taking an offensive zone penalty on the play so maybe a little bit overzealous

Uh we get four on four for 18 seconds everything gets killed off there and then COV great pass by Hedman to set him up no chance for monmo there the other assist to Celli that’s a 1453 that’s your insurance goal so at 1755 Suzuki makes it interesting he

Scores from a sharp angle slavkovsky and mat with the assists makes it 4 to3 but Tampa Bay hold holds on they win this one 43 they go to 185 and 5 with the win Montreal drops below NHL 500 at 156 and 5 on the season shots on net favored

Montreal through the first two periods 9 to4 in the first 13-7 in the second Tampa Bay out shoots them 9 to8 in the third Final Shots 30 to 20 for Montreal power plays Montreal 0 for one Tampa Bay 0 for three the hits 27 to 25 Montreal

Montmo saved 16 out of 20 and Johansson saved 27 out of 30 and gets his first win in a while so that being said I need to change boards now for the No Mercy board um so it’s the No Mercy board and then there’s the this was almost a trap

Game board so we’re going to off talking about the Oilers and the Ducks um not sure why I have that written down there I better fix that before I upload this I really need the rest of the year off so it’s Pickard versus Gibson in this one

I’m just going to say Calvin Pickard had maybe his best game since being recalled by the Oilers but the score will overshadow that so shots are three nothing ducks at 3 minutes mikov fires one wide on a rush and then on their second shot the Oilers score it’s McLoud

From Fogle at 4:15 so mccloud’s been hot lately nice to see him with another goal the Ducks press for response eventually they get One Max Jones buries a loose Puck from stro and zis at 909 it was a nice pass from behind the net by zis as

Well uh Ducks then look for the lead we get a power play for Anaheim yanm Mark prevents a goal by Henrik without taking a penalty and they kill that off and then at 1722 Evander Kane puts the Oilers ahead 2 to one that would be the

Score after the first and once we get to the second well here comes the Oilers at 148 is dry cidal from nurse and Fogle it’s a one-time on a Tic-Tac toe play uh we get a power play for the Oilers uh they don’t score on it but not long

After it’s done at 418 fogal scores from nurse and brown uh the shots are 11-2 Edmonton 7 and A2 minutes in yeah yeah this was this was a rough night for Gibson uh a net feed to Leon gets blocked CC has a shot that’s sent to the

Corner and then at 11:43 Fogle gets a second of the period from McLoud and dry cdle we then get a power play for Anaheim that’s killed off leushin couldn’t bury one in close it’s 5 to one for the Oilers after two what interested me in this game too is that I mean this

Is Oilers broadcast the Oilers broadcast I’m watching and they were they were talking about how the Ducks weren’t weren’t performing very well they had opportunities to clear the puck and they’re not and they were talking about like I don’t know it just it felt weird to watch these guys who should be you

Know raw raw raw for the Oilers kind of saying you know that the Ducks just it’s it’s this isn’t working this is not they’re they’re not playing well so it’s first time I’ve I’ve really heard that from a uh an announce group that’s not actually Ducks announcers so third

Period full Oilers power play to start the Ducks do kill it off then we had a fight between eckol and stro which kind of came out of nowhere uh vetrano then tips one in from the slot to make it kind of interesting color and gutas with

The assists at 448 I I didn’t think they were going to blow the lead I didn’t think it was going to happen happen the Oilers press at 6 and A2 minutes Kane has a wrap round that’s saved and then Heyman on a rush he scores from McDavid

And Bard at 849 the Ducks were on a line change and it was just it’s one of those things where it’s a bad line change and the Oilers made him pay we get a power play for Anaheim that’s killed off the Oilers press with four and a half

Minutes left and then at 1549 coola scores from dry Sidle and Fogle there’s some punching that leads to an Oilers power play since there’s a double minor for spearing on the play that we might see Department of players safety give a fine out for right cuz spearing isn’t

Called very often it ends up being 43 seconds of four on four ultimately it doesn’t matter the Oilers win this one 7 to2 no mercy cuz five goal difference 185 and one record for the Oilers the Ducks 13 and 23 fading continues for them shots on net 14 to10 Anaheim in the

First 18 to8 Edmonton in the second 11 to8 Edmonton in the third they end up out shooting Anaheim 39 to30 both teams go all for four on the power play the hits 25 to 12 Anaheim picker saved 28 out of 30 again very good game for

Calvin Pickard Gibson saved 32 out of 39 I I don’t know if you can put this on Gibson I don’t think you can all right next up Philadelphia and the flames it’s been a long road trip for Philadelphia I think that showed in this game but also Calgary really needs victories so it’s

Arison versus markstrom the Flyers press at 2 minutes Gilbert has a shot that’s caught and held there’s a power play for the Flyers that’s killed off shots are 5 to2 for the Flyers at 7 and 1/2 minutes and then at 944 ristan opens the scoring from paling and farby so the Flyers

Coming into this one 162 and one when they score first which tells you they score first often and secondly I jinxed them by putting that on the board uh shots are seven a piece I’d like to apologize to Flyers fans everywhere but shots are seven a piece with 5 minutes

Left mup Pani can’t bury one in close the fra Flames press to close it out uh but it’s one nothing Philly after the first second period uh weager to frost uh that gets bailed out notice weager plays for the Flames Frost plays for the Flyers you don’t do that so markr baales

Them out we get a power play for the Flyers that leads to a short-handed two-on-one lyol is robbed there we get a minute and 3 seconds of four on four everything gets killed off Flames presss are kept to the outside Forester fires one wide on a rush the shots on net are

4 three Flyers at 7 minutes a net feed dieri is blocked uh the Flyers press with 8 minutes left after they’ had a power play that was killed off and and I really feel like with the Flyers the style of game that they play it’s a tough style and I feel like that

Especially on a long road trip you can get worn down yourself doing that uh so yeah weager gets denied through a screen the Flyers press with 5 minutes left but at 1821 backland wires one from a slot which is good because backland did the four treking to set this up mup Pon and

Gilbert with the assist so suddenly it’s a tie game hannahan nearly adds one after that but it’s 1-1 after two third period Flyers press are kept to the outside there’s a press by the Flames at two and A2 minutes rist Alan as a net feed that’s blocked paling as a rush

Chance that’s held and then Gilbert on a great pass by huberto Gilbert scores his first of the Season Coleman with the other assist at 729 so he wires that one was a nice goal by Gilbert it was two to1 Calgary uh Flames look for another

Tip it as a shot that saved as the Flyers press we get a power play for Calgary with 706 left that becomes a fouron four for 36 seconds the Flyers weren’t happy with that call either because Aron’s strap came off so he pulled his helmet off but because he

Physically pulled the helmet off that qualifiers delay a game so cadri ends up scoring during the four four on a rush M japon with the assist at 1429 everything gets killed off and then after it’s done with the goalie pulled Brink scores from Atkinson and lton at 1636 so that makes

It a one goal game again uh with 240 left the flyers call a timeout with the goalie already pulled that allows the empty Netter at 1740 it’s Coleman from mapani and then at 1838 with the goalie pulled still zamula scores from conne and frost that makes it four to3 that’s

As close as the Flyers get the flames go to 15 16 and 5 with the win the Flyers 19 12 and 5 with the loss shots on net 118 Calgary in the first 11 to 10 flyers in the second both teams had 11 shots in the third period Final Shots 32 to3 for

The Flames power plays Philadelphia 0 for four Calgary 0 for two the hits 17 to 16 for the Flyers Arison saves 28 out of 31 markstrom saved 27 out of 30 at the other end so Arison had a good game marrom was solid as well uh and in the

End the Flames just get that one extra but entertaining game yes all right uh San Jose almost did this it almost happened again and for the ABS this had to be frustrating because they outplayed San Jose through most of this game and like yeah this was this was more

Lopsided than the score would tell you but hey kakenan raising his market value uh it’s Kenan versus gorv there’s an early press by the ABS OK Conor has as a chance he’s denied and close the shots are 4 nothing for Colorado 4 and a half

Minutes in uh too many sharks on the ice the ABS get a power play and they score on a cycle it’s Ranon in from McKinnon and dushin at 658 halfway through the first period the Sharks don’t have a shot yet uh ABS have a two-on-one that’s

Broken up ranton and has a net drive that’s held the ABS press with two minutes left but yeah it’s one nothing after one and it felt like it should have been a lot more second period the ABS pick up where they left off uh they this is where they announced that

McKinnon who had hit Ferraro um in the first period the Ferraro was not going to return from that hit by McKinnon it feels like that’s the thing with McKinnon now that he hits and they’re gone for the rest of the game early sharks power play I I know it’s not the

First time that I’ve talked about that or heard it uh short-handed nushin chances defended and then there was a short-handed oconor chance that deflects out we get 11 seconds of four on four the ABS go to the power play obviously after that that was killed off uh sharks

Press the ABS block thr has a chance that’s blocked and cleared we get a power play for the ABS that’s killed off and then the sharks get a power play and they score on it and at that point in the entire game I think they had six

Shots and or seven I think the eighth shot is the one that hurdle gets that goes in grandland and Addison with the assists at 1653 and this is your classic Trap game you’re out playing them you’re outplaying them you’re the better team but somehow it’s tied uh then we had a

Crossbar for grandland so grandland nearly gives them the lead and so after two periods of play somehow this game’s 1-1 even though the shots are 21 to9 third period ABS press at a minute and half wood can’t bury one the Sharks clear we get a power play for the ABS

That becomes 47 seconds of five on three for Colorado they cycle ran and fires one wide the sharks kill it I don’t know how uh this game still one-1 but it is the ABS press at 7 and2 Minutes the Sharks block the shots are 9 nothing Colorado 8 minutes in carpenter has a

Tip shot that’s held and then NuSkin barries one on a rush uh Jack Johnson and McKinnon with the assists at 1631 with 316 left the ABS get a power play cuz Stone Cold said so that becomes 147 of four on four uh they would pull the goal tender and that allows Manson to

Hit the empty net from a distance uh Taves and Johansson with the assists at 1853 so your final score is 3 to1 in favor of the ABS Colorado goes to 23 11 and three with the win with the loss San Jose drops to 9 25 and three but they

Kept it close uh Ken and kept it close shots on that 103 Colorado in the 1 11 to6 Colorado in the second 13-2 Colorado in the third final shots are 34-1 for the Colorado Avalanche power play San Jose 1 for three Colorado 1 for six uh

Hits 20 17 Colorado kakenan saves 31 out of 33 he was fantastic gorv only had 11 shots and he saved 10 of them so yeah that was not what I had expected there at all speaking of unexpected Dallas now obviously here in abbottsford we have the AHL U Canucks

And when the AHL Canucks play that first game of double header they can struggle and usually they’re better in the second half at least that’s been my experience watching them and it feels like with this being the second half of a double header of sorts and that there was a day

Off in between Dallas wasn’t having it tonight this just after kind of a meh game the other night uh tonight they they really had their game together so it’s moric versus Wedgewood and the Rave jerseys being sported by Dallas good on them and maybe this is a sign the Rave

Jerseys which they didn’t have a great record with earlier on they’re they’re getting better so early jump for Dallas the shots are 4 to one for the stars at 3 minutes or three and a half minutes I should say Stars press at 7 Minutes eventually they get a goal it’s Craig Smith

From steel and hawen Pa 1135 uh Wedgewood then at a goal line stand on Bard as he looks to tie it but then suder puts one in off Kev to make it two nothing from Robertson and hkin in at 1716 and at 1911 after a Chicago

Turnover Sean puts the puck in the net marchment and duchaine with the assists it’s 3 nothing Dallas after one not really any tension in this from then on uh second period we get a power play for Dallas that’s killed off but then at 34 steel berries went on a net Drive

Marchman duchane with the assists Marchman had himself a bit of a game tonight um Power Play for Chicago that’s killed off rles then denied on a turnover chances Chicago’s trying to get back into this uh shots are actually 7 to five for Chicago with nine and a half

Minutes left but we get a power play for Dallas and they score on it and it’s marchment scoring from San and Lundquist at at 1250 uh Bard then fires one high on a three on two again Chicago trying to do anything to get back into this we

Get a power play for the Hawks that’s killed off uh there was a Max mask save on a Donado rush I don’t think it was intentional but it’s a mask save nonetheless 39.7 seconds left the Hawks get a power play so after two periods it’s 5- nothing the power play rolls

Over into the third period and Chicago scores on it Kev it’s a tic-tac-toe play at 39 seconds on the Zone entry Bard and Gutman with the assist so Bard does get a point tonight and it’s 5 to1 the shots are 2 to1 for Dallas at 2 and A2 minutes

Gets a little sloppy Bard has the shot that’s held there’s a press by the stars at 4 minutes at 446 um hint scores he gets the goal from Harley and pavelski later on hints on the next shift he has a net Drive uh that is saved and then at 1429 Marchman

Tips one in he had quite the night uh he scores from Sean and duchaine the stars then press for more and they get it at 1856 marchment deflex one in it’s the hatrick uh Lindell and lanquist with the assists so it’s an 8 to1 score for the

Dallas Stars tonight it’s a lot of goals it’s a no mercy game obviously uh the stars go to 229 and four this is what you’d call a statement game I understand Chicago’s not good but it’s still a statement that hey we’re much better than these guys uh Chicago 1123 and 2

Shots on net 17 to6 Dallas in the first 17 to6 in case I wasn’t clear uh 10 to9 Dallas in the second 14 to n Dallas in the third Final Shots 41 to 24 for the Stars power plays both teams go one for three on the power play the hits 25 to5

For Chicago as Dallas decided we don’t want to hit uh moric saved 25 out of 31 solder Bloom went in he was just left in the line of fire eight saves on 10 shots for solder Bloom Wedgewood 23 saves on 24 Shots so Dallas with a good night um

And uh yeah the Oilers with a bit of a good night as well but let me know your thoughts in the comments section below as always don’t forget to hit like And subscribe if you’ve not done so already thank you guys so much for watching I I

  1. That video review, on goalie interference, was one of the worst calls I’ve seen in hockey, in many years. If Boston had lost that game, with that being a major decision in the game… I would still be screaming/cursing upset, all these hours later.

  2. The Ekholm Strome fight was brewing earlier in the game. They took coincidental penalties earlier and were beaking eachother in the box pretty good.

  3. Bedard injury or just protecting him since the game was over early? Only played 15 mins, like 13 other hawks skaters got more ice time meanwhile both teams got 6 PIM

  4. It’s ok, I wouldn’t want to review a Sabres game either. Not even God can help this franchise 🤦‍♂️

  5. Long post follows with base game statistics including some for the Anaheim Ducks. Read, don't read, up to you. These are BASE stats not detailed ones. Happy New Year all.

This was a butt kicking. No way around that. The Oilers kicked the Ducks where they sit and kept doing it all night. Foegele with 2 Goals and 3 Assists, Leon with a Goal and 2 Assists, McLeod a goal and an assist, Kane with a Goal, Hyman with a Goal, Kulak with a Goal, contributions from the D (both Nurse and Bouchard got Assists plus Kulak's goal), some depth contributions (Brown got another secondary assist). Then it got nasty. The Oilers had 41 Penalty minutes and the Ducks had 31 Penalty Minutes. The difference was an extra game misconduct for Janmark. PP not working right now but PK sure is working (for the Ducks too). If anyone bet Foegele for 2 goals and 3 assists they must have cleaned up because I didn't see it coming. The second line contributed 10 points to last nights effort. They're killing it (and anyone who gets in their way). All in all, great game and high energy for the 2nd game of a back to back closing out our 2023 year with 3 wins on the road in Cali. Much, MUCH more reasonable Time on Ice too. No forward had more than McDavid's 19:11 and it drops off noticeably from there. Take care all.

  6. I just cannot watch Buffalo anymore. That is an ABSOLUTE TRAINWRECK. Their shots are from the outside and non-threatening. The smallest play (Benson) is the rare man going to the net! Pathetic

  7. Montreal goal was either a referee goof or a really heads-up play by Montembeault. Either way it was fun to see, everyone just kind of froze. Happy New Year Shannon.

  8. Anaheim needs to show some mercy and deal Gibson to a team with a pulse. Seems like every aspect of this Ducks team is flatlining…What in the world is going on out on Long Island?… 😯 …Do they have injury problems or what? They've been sputtering bad of late…That Montreal goal was weird in so many ways. If the officials can't see the puck they should blow it dead. Was the goal legit? Well, yeah. Was it cricket, though? I'm not so sure. Sure pissed Tampa off though…Happy New Year Shannon, and enjoy your break. But sleep fast. You got lots more whiteboards to decorate…

  9. I was at the lightning game, the rest of the second period consisted of “ref you suck” chants and booing. Unless we scored. Then after the cheering for the goals it would go right back to letting the ref know he sucked. It continued like this the whole night. I don’t know how a ref acts like he’s going to blow the whistle so that most of the players on both teams and the linesmen both think the play is dead. And then he doesn’t know if he called the play dead? It was a joke of a call. The way he held the puck that play gets called dead every other time. We still won, but that’s a terrible call

  10. Mackinnon > McDavid… the ruthless point production is possible with mackinnon, but he is absolutely phenomenal defensively. He forechecks and backchecks hard can hit take hits and makes everyon better.

  11. Warren Foegele has been on a tear lately, just generally has been great this season. His 5 point game last night was great to watch

  12. If the penguins can continue to find consistency by the bottom 6 guys they could become very dangerous.

  13. No Bolts player skated towards Montembeault, he had no one around him except Montreal players, its why, i guess, they didnt blow the play. Weird one still

  14. I dont get why the Ducks just simply choose to give Gibson the Patrick Roy treatment. This isnt even the first time in recent memory that they have left him in for 6+ goals. Man gets backup goalie treatment when he is supposed to be THE goalie

  15. I'm sorry but I have to say this I always call things straight but that should not have been a goal the bruins are absolutely right for challenging the refs messed that up

  16. Nice to see coaching decisions be a huge part in an Ottawa win. Hopefully something we can get used to

  17. Most NHL writers and media are afraid of Picasso these days. Thanks for taking a stance, very refreshing. You gained a fan here.
