Every single team in the NHL makes mistakes. Could be a defenseman, could be a forward, doesn't matter. They all make dumb plays. The difference between those teams and the Avs this year, is it seems like nearly every single mistake the Avs make is ending up in the back of their own net. So you wonder. WHY is it ending up in our net, where with most teams it just ends up with a scoring chance? Well, it's because Giorgiev does not play those mistakes well. At all.
Now I will admit, our defense has been highly suspect at times. Particularly during a large stretch of December. But that's is EXACTLY when you need your goaltender to bail you out, and Giorgiev for the most part is NOT doing that.
The Avs so far have been able to outscore most of their goaltending issues, but that is not a viable strategy for the post season. At all. Giorgiev HAS to be better.
